Google Launches Affordable AI Plus Subscription For Enhanced Access To AI Tools In Emerging Markets
Google has introduced a new subscription tier, "AI Plus," aimed at providing enhanced access to Google AI for users in emerging markets at a lower cost. This plan is positioned between the free tier and the AI Pro, which costs $19.99 monthly in the US. AI Plus offers increased access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, surpassing the five daily prompts available to free users.
Enhanced Features of Google AI Plus
The Google AI Plus subscription includes several features that enhance user experience. Users gain access to Veo 3 Fast, likely within the Gemini app, along with Google Flow, a video creation tool, and Whisk, an image-to-video tool. Additionally, subscribers can use the Gemini side panel in Gmail, Google Docs, and Sheets and have expanded NotebookLM usage.

Another benefit of this new plan is the provision of 200 GB of Google One storage. This feature adds significant value for users who require additional storage space for their digital content. The introduction of AI Plus reflects Google's commitment to making advanced technology accessible to a broader audience.
Pricing and Availability
Currently, AI Plus is available exclusively in emerging markets, starting with Indonesia. In Indonesia, the AI Pro plan costs Rp. 309,000 (approximately $18.79) per month, while AI Plus is priced at Rp. 75,000 (around $4.56) monthly. If this plan expands beyond emerging markets in the future, it will likely remain under $20.
The Gemini app offers a 128K token context window for AI Plus users compared to just 32K for free users. Although this is less than the 1 million tokens available with other plans, it still represents a significant improvement over the free tier.
Comparative Analysis with Other Plans
For context, Google AI Pro provides 100 prompts per day while AI Ultra offers 500 prompts daily. The exact usage limits for AI Plus have not been updated in Google's support article yet. However, it is clear that this new tier aims to bridge the gap between free and premium offerings by providing more affordable access to advanced features.
This strategic move by Google highlights its dedication to empowering individuals in developing regions by offering them more opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence tools effectively without incurring high costs.
