Google Photos May Soon Let You Turn Your Selfies Into Memes
If you’ve ever looked at your selfie and thought, “This would make a great meme,” Google might soon make that a reality. Reports suggest the tech giant is working on an AI feature for Google Photos that can automatically transform selfies into memes using creative templates and digital art filters.
Meet “Me Meme”
According to a teardown by Android Authority, the feature—called “Me Meme”—was discovered inside the Google Photos v7.51.0 APK. It’s still in development and not yet available to users or beta testers.
The concept sounds simple enough: you pick a photo of yourself and choose a meme template, and the AI takes it from there. The result is a personalized meme image featuring your face in a familiar meme format. It’s the kind of feature that feels built for group chats and social media shares.
Screenshots shared by Android Authority show an onboarding message that reads, “Turn yourself or your family and friends into your favourite memes. Just pick a template, a photo, and enjoy—perfect for sharing to group chats and more.”
While there’s no word yet on when or if the feature will officially launch, it’s clear Google is experimenting with ways to make Photos more playful and creative, not just a storage app.
Gemini App Also Getting an Update
That’s not the only thing Google’s working on. Another APK teardown found changes inside the Gemini app, specifically for its voice mode. Currently, when users pause too long while speaking, the microphone shuts off automatically.
The upcoming update aims to fix that. It could introduce a “mic lock” option, allowing users to keep the microphone active while they think or pause mid-sentence. The feature was spotted in version 16.42.61 of the Google app.
