Google TV Gets New Gemini Features: Deep Dives, Sports Briefs, and More
Google has announced new Gemini-powered features for Google TV, aimed at making content discovery and learning more interactive. The update introduces richer visual responses, educational deep dives, and timely sports briefs, allowing users to explore topics directly from their TV without extensive searching.
Richer Visual Responses
With the latest update, Gemini for Google TV can now adapt responses based on the user's query and provide more relevant visual information. For example, if users ask about sports scores, Gemini will show a live scorecard along with details on where to watch the game. Similarly, searching for a recipe will display a video tutorial along with related visuals and text.

Explore Educational Topics With Deep Dives
Google is also introducing "Deep Dives", a new feature designed to provide detailed and interactive explanations of various topics. These narrated visual breakdowns cover subjects such as health and wellness, economics, technology, and more.
For instance, users can explore topics like the physiological effects of cold plunging or learn how matcha is produced from scratch. The feature includes guided follow-up questions, making the experience interactive for families watching together. Users can access this feature by asking Gemini to "Dive deeper" or by navigating to the Gemini tab on the Google TV home screen and selecting "Learn."
New Sports Briefs for Quick Updates
Google is expanding its briefs feature to include sports updates. These sports briefs provide short, narrated summaries of important events across popular leagues.
Initially, the feature will cover leagues such as the NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, and the National Women's Soccer League. The briefs will include player updates, quick match summaries, and key highlights, helping fans stay updated even if they miss the live action.
Availability
Richer visual answers from Gemini for Google TV are starting to roll out to Gemini-enabled devices in the U.S. and Canada. People in the U.S. can already try deep dives and sports briefs on supported hardware. Google plans broader device support during the spring, alongside a wider availability of the Gemini voice assistant.
The Gemini for Google TV voice assistant is due to reach more countries during the year. The first expansion wave will include Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain in the spring period. As the rollout grows, more households will be able to use the same interface for quick answers, focused learning sessions and short sports round-ups on their televisions.
