OpenAI has started rolling out unlimited text conversations to ChatGPT Free and ChatGPT Go users, removing one of the biggest limitations of its AI chatbot. Alongside the expanded access, the company is also upgrading users to its new GPT-5.6 Luna model by default, bringing improvements in reasoning, accuracy, and overall conversational quality.

The latest update allows users to chat with ChatGPT without worrying about text message limits, making the platform more practical for everyday tasks such as writing, coding, brainstorming, studying, and research.

How to Get Unlimited ChatGPT Conversations

If you're a ChatGPT Free or ChatGPT Go user, you don't need to sign up for a beta program or manually enable any settings. OpenAI is rolling out the feature automatically through a server-side update.

To access the new experience:

• Update the ChatGPT app on Android or iOS to the latest version, or visit the ChatGPT website.
• Sign in using your existing OpenAI account.
• Ensure GPT-5.6 Luna is selected as your default model (the rollout is automatic and may take a few days to reach all users).
• Once the update arrives, you can enjoy unlimited text-based conversations without hourly message restrictions.

Do note that image generation, voice chats, and file uploads continue to have separate usage limits for Free users.

GPT-5.6 Luna Brings Better Accuracy and Smarter Responses

As part of the update, OpenAI is replacing GPT-5.5 with GPT-5.6 Luna for Free and Go subscribers. According to the company, the new model delivers smoother conversations and improves factual accuracy by 62 percent compared to the previous generation.

The rollout also introduces a Think button for more demanding queries. When enabled, ChatGPT spends additional time reasoning through complex problems before responding. This is particularly useful for programming, mathematics, multi-step reasoning, and in-depth research tasks.

GPT-5.6 Sol Remains Exclusive to Paid Users

While Free and Go users receive GPT-5.6 Luna, ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers gain access to the more advanced GPT-5.6 Sol model.

OpenAI says Sol is designed for professional workloads, strategic planning, real-time web research, and advanced reasoning. It also introduces a thinking slider, allowing users to control how much reasoning time the model spends before generating a response. The company claims GPT-5.6 Sol further reduces factual errors by 68 percent compared to earlier models.

With unlimited text conversations now available on the Free tier, OpenAI is making ChatGPT significantly more accessible while continuing to reserve its most advanced AI capabilities for paid subscribers. The update is rolling out gradually, so users who do not see GPT-5.6 Luna immediately may receive it over the coming days.
