Gemini’s Personal Intelligence Is Now In India: How To Connect Gmail, Photos, and More to Google's AI
Google has started rolling out Personal Intelligence in the Gemini app in India. If you’ve seen the option pop up and weren’t sure what it does or how to use it, here’s a simple breakdown.

What Personal Intelligence Actually Means
At its core, this feature lets Gemini connect to your Google apps like Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search. Once you turn it on, Gemini can use information from these apps to answer your questions in a more context-aware way.
So instead of manually checking emails, photos, or your watch history, you can just ask Gemini something like your travel plans, and it pulls the relevant details together.
How To Turn It On In Gemini
If the feature is available on your account, you can enable it in a few steps:
- Open the Gemini app
- Tap on Settings
- Go to Personal Intelligence
- Select Connected Apps
- Choose which apps you want to link, such as Gmail or Google Photos
That’s it. You don’t have to connect everything at once. You can pick and choose based on what you’re comfortable with.
How To Actually Use It Day To Day
Once it’s turned on, you can start using it just by asking normal questions.
For example, if you’re planning a trip and don’t remember the details, you can ask Gemini about your plans. It can look at your booking emails, find related images or screenshots, and give you a clearer summary.
It can also pull context from things like videos you’ve watched, which helps with suggestions. The idea is to reduce the need to jump between apps.
How To Stay In Control Of Your Data
This is one part you shouldn’t skip over. Personal Intelligence is off by default, and you’re in control of what gets connected.
You can:
- Turn the feature off anytime
- Disconnect specific apps
- Delete your chat history
- Use temporary chats without personalization
Gemini may also show or explain where it got certain information from. If something feels off, you can ask for clarification or correct it directly.
What To Keep In Mind
This feature is still in a beta stage, so it won’t always get things right. Sometimes it might make connections that don’t fully match your intent, especially when it tries to interpret patterns from your data.
If that happens, you can give feedback or correct it on the spot.
Who Can Access It Right Now
The rollout is happening gradually in India. Right now, it’s available for eligible Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. Google says it plans to bring it to free users in the coming weeks.
It works across the web, Android, and iOS once enabled.
