I Tried ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for Trip Planning and Luxury Bag Shopping—Here Are the Results
AI has become a part of our everyday lives. Whether it's shopping, health advice, or planning a trip, we use AI for almost everything now. For me, AI does it all-it's my travel planner, shopping guide, and even my daily health companion.
While there are multiple AI chatbots available, I mostly stick to ChatGPT. That said, this time I decided to try Google Gemini and Perplexity as well. I used the free versions of all three and asked them the same questions to see how they work. Here's what I found, and which one actually did a better job.

I Tried Getting a Quick Itinerary for My Trip to Vapi, Gujarat - Here's What I Got
Prompt: I'm planning a two-day trip to Vapi, Gujarat. Can you suggest which places to visit each day and recommend budget-friendly stays?
What ChatGPT Says
ChatGPT provided me with a detailed two-day itinerary, covering the places to visit each day, hotel options, food recommendations, and useful travel tips. It even created a table with suggested timings for each activity, which made the plan very easy to follow and understand.

What Perplexity Says
Perplexity offered almost everything ChatGPT did. It also included day-wise sightseeing plans, hotel suggestions, and food options. Additionally, it provided direct hotel links along with rating boxes, making it convenient to check reviews and compare stays.

What Gemini Says
Gemini also shared similar information, including places to visit, food recommendations, and accommodation options. However, its responses were more basic compared to the other two. While hotel names were mentioned, there were no direct links, so I had to search for them separately.

What I Liked
Overall, all three chatbots gave me a detailed itinerary for my trip. However, ChatGPT felt the easiest to use. The table format made the information more organized, and you can also ask follow-up questions for more personalized suggestions. The hotel listings were also directly linked, which saved time.
On the other hand, Perplexity stood out for its detailed hotel listings, complete with direct links and ratings. Gemini's responses were simple and useful, but they lacked depth and convenience compared to the other two.
I Tried ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for Shopping - Here Are the Results
I also asked for a shopping guide, as I wanted to buy a Guess bag and needed help choosing the right websites, along with the reasons to shop from them and the offers currently available.
In this case, all three chatbots did a good job, and I genuinely liked their responses. However, Perplexity stood out by mentioning the discount accurately, while the other two provided a percentage range instead of exact figures.
All three chatbots listed the recommended websites, explained why each platform should be considered, and even shared tips on how to identify fake products and avoid scams.
It's also worth noting that I used the free versions of these chatbots. If you opt for a subscription plan, you might get more detailed answers. That said, I believe you should rely entirely on a chatbot.
For example, when planning a trip or choosing a staycation, it's always a good idea to check YouTube videos or travel vlogs shared by people. Similarly, for shopping, especially when buying luxury or branded products, it's safer to shop from the official website rather than third-party platforms. Discounts can also vary, so it's best to cross-check details independently before making a purchase.
