X Now Lets You Turn Any Photo Into a Video Using Grok AI — Here’s How to Do It
If you’re scrolling through X and spot a photo you like, you can now turn it into a video without leaving the app. Elon Musk has announced that the feature, powered by Grok AI, is rolling out for iOS users — with Android support on the way.
The tool is part of Grok Imagine, which recently became free for all users worldwide for a limited time. It’s another sign of how X is trying to make AI creation more accessible and integrated into the platform.

How the Photo-to-Video Tool Works
Using the feature is straightforward. Update your X app to the latest version, long press on any image in your feed, and select Make video with Grok. The photo is sent straight to the Grok app, which then generates a video in about 17 seconds.
You’ll get four audio options to pair with your video, and the output is ready to share. This integration means you don’t have to manually upload your image to Grok — the process happens in the background.
What You’ll Need Before Trying It
To use the tool, you’ll need the Grok app installed on your phone and a registered account. iOS users can try it now, while Android users will have to wait a bit longer for the rollout. Musk says the Android version is “coming soon.”
For the best experience, make sure your app is updated via the App Store or Google Play Store.
More Grok Updates
This isn’t the only new feature for Grok. Earlier, the platform rolled out Auto and Expert modes in Grok 4, along with an upgrade to its PDF processing abilities. Grok Imagine also arrived on Android, allowing six-second video creation from prompts or images. Musk has even confirmed that Grok 5 is planned for later this year.
