Sony introduces new waterproof ultra-compact RX0 camera in India

Adding to its digital imaging experience, Sony India has launched its all-new versatile RX0 camera that enables flexibility, creativity, and operability in for today's creators. The RX0 brings the advanced imaging quality capabilities of Sony's acclaimed RX camera line-up to a robust, waterproof, ultra-compact body.

"The miniature dimensions and all-around versatility of the new camera make it a powerful tool when used either as a single unit or when combined together with additional RX0 cameras in multi-angle, multi-view shooting situations," the company has said in its media release.

This latest innovation comes with Anti-Distortion Shutter, Up to 16fps continuous shooting, up to 960fps/1000fps. The RX0 (model name: DSC-RX0) marries the hallmark leading image quality of the Sony RX series with advanced photo and video capabilities, which also is waterproof, crushproof and shockproof.

The RX0 packs a large 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS image sensor that helps in achieving more captivating results, thanks to a stacked architecture that expands and speeds up signal pro­cessing, back illumination technology to increase light collection efficiency and reduce noise in shots taken at up to ISO 12800, and attached DRAM chip for faster large-volume output.

The new RX0 camera features, BIONZ X processor and a wide-angle ZEISS Tessar T 24mm F4 fixed lens to deliver high resolution and fewer distortion results for both RAW and JPEG stills and across all supported video formats. Further, the camera is equipped with an Anti-Distortion Shutter that can shoot as fast as 1/32000 second, as well. As per the company, this feature reduces the rolling shutter effect experienced with fast-moving subjects.

The device offers maximum burst shooting capability at up to 16 fps, ensuring that even fast moving objects are beautifully and accurately rendered. Super slow motion at a frame rate of up to 960/1000fps is available to capture split-seconds of action in movies. The camera is said to maintain fine images at nearly HD quality with the choice of Quality Priority mode.

The camera is shockproof when dropped from up to 2 meters (6.5 ft) and crushproof to 200kg / 440lb / 2000N, making it durable enough to withstand tough shooting conditions including rain, sand, dust, snow and more, where traditional cameras simply cannot operate.

To maximize the potential of RX0, a host of new accessories are available that support new and different ways of shooting. These include the VCT-CGR1 Cage for increased system flexibility, the MPK-HSR1 Housing, enabling the RX0 to be taken down to depths of up to 100 meters underwater, the CPT-R1 Cable Protector, VF-SPR1 Spare Lens Protector, VFA-305R1 Filter Adaptor Kit which includes filter adaptor, lens hood and MC protector, plus the NP-BJ1 Rechargeable Battery Pack and ACC-TRDCJ Accessory Kit.

As for the pricing and availability the newly launched RX0 is priced at Rs. 64,990 and will be available starting February 23 across all Sony Center, Alpha Flagship Stores and Sony authorized dealers.

Sony has also introduced a new camera lens SEL18135 which is priced at Rs. 49,990. It is available for purchase.
