Olympus Air A01: A New Wireless Camera for Your Smartphones, Compatible With iOS and Android
Japanese company, Olympus has unveiled its new Air camera, which pairs with your smartphones for the control unit and LCD. Olympus introduced this lens camera during Photokina 2014 followed by Sony and Oppo in the market.
This camera is supported by both Android and iOS. This camera is said to go on sale on March 6 this year in Japan, while the camera will carry a price tag of 33,800 yen for body, without lens (approx Rs. 17,650) and 49,800 yen for 14-42mm lens kit (approx Rs. 26,025).

The company said, "The Olympus Air is a camera with new concept that provides intuitive controls for shooting, image manipulation, and uploads to social networking services through a linked smartphone. The popularity of posting to social networking services and other uses has increased the frequency of capturing photos to previously incomparable levels, thereby increasing the number of users who feel that photos are an intimate part of their lives".
On the specification part, Olympus Air A01 can be paired with both iOS and Android, with a 16MP Live MOS sensor, a lens mount, which can use any of multiple supported lenses and can take up to 320 shots on a charge. The camera can be paired with smartphones via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity technology.
It also includes a physical shutter button, a tripod mount and a slot for a microSD card. Olympus says the Air is capable of producing "SLR-quality" images and can hook up with any Micro Four Third lens
This Air A01 camera can work with eight apps specifically designed for it, which offers various special features and settings to explore, when you are photographing something.
"There are 8 different smartphone apps that can be selected according to how you want to shoot. With these, the interchangeable lens camera quality photos can be captured using simple smartphone controls," noted Olympus in a press release. The company will also offering a software development kit, which can be used to develop more apps for this camera.
