HTC Flyer 2: 7-inch Display, Snapdragon S4 Processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Tablet Coming on September 19
HTC is back with a bang and this time the Taiwanese phone manufacturer is in the news for the launch of a new tablet device. According to a phoneArena report, HTC is working on a Nexus 7 competitor Android based tablet and would unveil the device in its September 19 event.
Repotedly, the tablet will be placed as a successor to HTC Flyer tablet with the expected name tag of HTC Flyer 2. With Google-branded Asus-made Nexus 7, the rumored HTC tablet is also expected to provide stiff competition for Amazon Kindle Fires.
The HTC Flyer 2 will run Android, but reports claim the OS will be the latest Jelly Bean variant. It’s also expected to ship with a 28nm Snapdragon S4 chip that enables LTE integration.
However, on account of its smaller 7-inch display (said to have a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution) and mid-tier features such as a three-megapixel rear facing camera and one-megapixel front facing snapper, the HTC Flyer 2 is expected to come at a competitive price point.
Further, there is no official information regarding the pricing and availability of the tablet so far. Although it is almost certain that price will play a decisive role in the success of this tablet especially taking in to context the failure of some of the previous products from HTC attributed to their expensive pricing.
There are unofficial sources suggesting that HTC Flyer 2 tablet will be announced possibly during the September 19 press event. Some of the analysts believe that this tablet is HTC Vertex, a Tegra3 powered tablet that was announced earlier by HTC. Reports suggest that HTC might have changed their mind by including S4 processor instead of Tegra3 processor. HTC is so far tight lipped about releasing any details regarding these latest developments.
It has to be seen whether this tablet is going to be a success or not. Users will have to wait till the commencement of September 19 press event for more information on this new Android tablet from HTC.
