From Mixed Reality to 2-in-1 PCs: Lenovo at IFA 2017
Lenovo has unveiled several new products at IFA 2017 which not only include computing solutions but also Mixed Reality and AR headsets.
While all eyes were glued to the grandstands of the biggest players from technology industry Lenovo made some intriguing announcements at IFA 2017. The leader in computing solutions from Beijing introduced several products in Berlin.
Not only did Lenovo showcased its latest line of computers it also introduced mixed and virtual reality products. Lenovo with its latest announcements of AR and mixed reality products attempts to jump on the bandwagon and prepare itself for a long run to the future of experiences.
Lenovo has indeed taken a bold step and it will be interesting to see how it fairs up against the already established competition.
For now, lets go ahead and see what Lenovo boasted off at the IFA 2017.
Lenovo Yoga 920
Yoga product line-up is one of the most revenue generating ventures for Lenovo. Not only have consumers adopted the Yoga notebooks all too well, the products from the range have developed a liking among users.
Lenovo introduced the Yoga 920, which is a flagship product from the brand. The product features Intel's 8th generation quad-core i7 processor, a bezel-less 13.9-inch 4K IPS touchscreen display, Cortana support and pen capability. The device can flip 360 degrees like previous Yoga products. The pricing for Yoga 920 starts at $1329.99(approx. Rs. 85,000).
Lenovo Yoga 720 12-inch
A more compact yet affordable model of Yoga 2-in-1 PC has also been unveiled by Lenovo. The Yoga 720 12 features the 7th generation Intel Core processor coupled with up to 8GB of RAM. It sports up to 512GB of SSD storage. It houses a Full HD touchscreen display and runs on Windows 10. The device also supports a pen and has a fingerprint sensor. Lenovo has priced this product starting at $649.99 (approx. Rs. 45,000).
Lenovo Miix 520
Lenovo Miix 520 is more of a tablet with a detachable keyboard. Miix 520 houses an 8th generation Intel i5 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM. It has an SSD with a storage capacity of 256GB. The device has 12.2-inch Full HD touchscreen display while it includes a keyboard and pen standard in the box.
It also boasts a Worldview camera that allows users to capture pictures in real time and edit them in 3D on the Miix 520. Lenovo will release the Miix 520 in October, starting at $999.99 (approx. Rs. 65,000).
Lenovo Explorer
Resonating Microsoft's efforts to introduce mixed reality to masses Lenovo has unveiled the Lenovo Explorer headset for Windows Mixed Reality. The headset gear is an affordable tool for both entertainment and productivity and will be compatible with a wide range of PCs. The product will be released in October 2017 and will retail for $349 with an option to bundle up gaming controllers with the headset for additional $100.
Star Wars: Jedi Challenges bundle
Lenovo is ready to offer its consumers a much immersive gaming experience which is evident from the launch of Lenovo's Star Wars: Jedi Challenge bundle. The bundle includes a smartphone-powered Lenovo Mirage AR headset, a lightsaber controller, and a tracking beacon.
The lightsaber controller doubles up as a pointer for interacting with the UI. It is compatible with games which include Lightsaber Battles and Holochess. The product will be made available by the end of this year and will retail for $199 (approx. Rs. 13,000) in the US.
Well, it looks like Lenovo is all set to take the challenge from big players in AR, VR and mixed reality with its latest range of products. It would be interesting to see if the brand can create a market for itself in the segment like it has created one for its extensive series of smartphones.
