The MacBook Air M5 is on sale on Amazon right now, and it's the cheapest this laptop has been since it launched in March.
The 13-inch base model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is listed at ₹1,04,990. That's already ₹15,000 off the launch price of ₹1,19,900. Use an HDFC credit card and pay in full, and you knock off another ₹7,000. After all the fees, you're looking at around ₹98,338.

So basically, a brand new M5 Air for under a lakh. That hasn't been the case until now.
Who This Is For
If you've been sitting on an old Intel MacBook, a tired Windows laptop, or you're just tired of waiting for the "right time" to buy a Mac, this is it.
The bump from 8GB to 16GB RAM as standard is the real story here. Earlier Airs at this price were stuck on 8GB, and that was starting to feel cramped the moment you opened a few tabs alongside actual work. 16GB and 512GB on the base now? That's a setup you can stretch for years.
If you're already on an M2 or M3 Air, just ignore this. You're not missing much.
MacBook Air M5: What You're Getting
The headline is the M5 chip. 10-core CPU, 8-core GPU on this base variant, and a 16-core Neural Engine handling the AI workloads. Apple says the chip is built on a refined 3nm process, and in practice, you can expect the usual Apple Silicon experience: fast, cool, and quiet. The Air is still fanless, so it'll throttle under sustained heavy loads, but for the kind of work most people throw at it, you won't hear it complain.
You're getting 16GB unified memory and 512GB of SSD storage. Apple claims the new SSDs are up to twice as fast as the last generation for read and write speeds, which mostly shows up in file transfers and app launches.
The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display is unchanged. 2560x1664 resolution, P3 wide colour, 500 nits of brightness, True Tone. It's the same panel Air buyers have been getting for a while, and it still holds up well outside Apple's own Pro lineup.
Connectivity is where the quiet upgrades sit. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 are both new to the Air this generation. You also get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe 3 charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. No USB-A, no SD card slot, no surprises.
The webcam is the 12MP Center Stage camera, with the same three-mic array and Spatial Audio speakers Apple has been using. Fine for calls, good enough for the occasional voice note recording.
Battery is rated at up to 18 hours of video playback. Real-world use lands somewhere between 12 and 15 hours, depending on what you're doing.
Weight is 1.24kg, thickness is 1.13cm, and it still comes in Midnight, Starlight, Sky Blue, and Silver. macOS Tahoe is preloaded, with Apple Intelligence features baked in.
A Cheaper Option to Consider
If the deal is still pushing it, the MacBook Neo is worth a look. Apple's entry-level MacBook is currently down to ₹61,990 in Flipkart's SASA LELE Sale, and an SBI Credit Card knocks another ₹4,000 off, bringing it to ₹57,990.

You don't get the M5 here. The Neo runs on the A18 Pro chip with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and the display is a 13-inch Liquid Retina panel. Battery is rated at up to 16 hours.
It's not in the same class as the Air, but for ₹40,000 less, it's a fair trade if your work is mostly browsing, writing, and media.
