I Added up Everything Rs 3,24,900 Buys in India and Now I Cannot Look at the iPhone Duo the Same Way
The 512GB iPhone Duo costs Rs 3,24,900 in India. That is not an EMI, that is the phone. So I sat down with a calculator and worked out what else that number buys, itemised, no rounding tricks. One of these is going to sting.

Apple’s entire lineup, minus the folding phone
| Item | Price |
| MacBook Air M4 (13-inch, 256GB) | Rs 99,900 |
| iPad Air M3 (11-inch, 128GB) | Rs 59,900 |
| iPhone 17 (256GB) | Rs 89,900 |
| Apple Watch Series 12 | Rs 56,900 |
| AirPods 5 | Rs 14,900 |
| Total | Rs 3,31,500 |
After all that shopping, you will still be left with Rs 3,400, which covers a case and a screen protector. Five Apple devices, or one Apple device that folds in half.
A middle class rider’s dream
| Item | Price |
| Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (on-road) | Rs 3,20,000 approx |
| Total | Rs 3,20,000 |
That is it. That is the whole line item. A motorcycle that will take you to Khardung La, fully paid for, with Rs 4,900 left for the first tank and a chai in Manali.
The full gaming shrine
| Item | Price |
| Sony PlayStation5 | Rs 79,990 |
| 65-inch QLED TV | Rs 85,000 |
| Sony WH-1000XM6 | Rs 29,990 |
| A good gaming chair | Rs 25,000 |
| Soundbar | Rs 35,000 |
| Eight games worth 5K | Rs 40,000 |
| Extra DualSense controller | Rs 6,500 |
| Two years of PS Plus | Rs 11,000 |
| Total | Rs 3,12,480 |
All that and Rs 12,420 spare, which is roughly two years of snacks for the friends who will now never leave your house.
The creator starter kit
| Item | Price |
| Sony ZV-E10 II body | Rs 89,990 |
| Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 | Rs 45,000 |
| 50mm f/1.8 prime | Rs 17,000 |
| DJI Mini 4 Pro | Rs 85,000 |
| MacBook Air M4 | Rs 99,900 |
| Wireless mic, tripod, lights | Rs 25,000 |
| SD cards and spare batteries | Rs 10,000 |
| Total | Rs 3,71,890 |
This one goes over. Drop the drone and you are at Rs 2,86,890 with Rs 38,010 to spare, which is the more sensible build anyway. Either way, you are no longer someone who wants to start a channel. You have the gear and no more excuses.
Roughly over 20 grams of gold
At a rough Rs 15,000 per gram for 24K, Rs 3,24,900 is about over 20 grams. In three years, one of these two things will be worth more than you paid for it. It will not be the phone.
The boring one that wins
| Years | Value at an assumed 12 per cent |
| 5 years | Rs 5,72,600 |
| 10 years | Rs 10,09,000 |
| 15 years | Rs 17,78,000 |
Rs 3,24,900 in an index fund, left alone, assuming a 12 per cent annual return that nobody can promise you. I am not telling you to do this. I am telling you the option exists, which is somehow worse.
The home upgrade
| Item | Price |
| 1.5-ton 5-star inverter AC | Rs 42,000 |
| Front-load washing machine | Rs 45,000 |
| 55-inch 4K TV | Rs 50,000 |
| 265L double-door fridge | Rs 40,000 |
| Robot vacuum | Rs 30,000 |
| Air purifier | Rs 20,000 |
| Dishwasher | Rs 45,000 |
| Microwave and installation | Rs 25,000 |
| Total | Rs 2,97,000 |
Rs 27,900 left, and every single item on this list is something your mother would rather you bought.
Or, you know, the phone
None of this is an argument against the iPhone Duo. It is the thinnest iPhone Apple has made, the matching aspect ratio genuinely fixes something Android foldables have fumbled for seven years, and first-generation Apple hardware holds value better than it has any right to.
It is just that Rs 3,24,900 is a number, and numbers have context. Now you have it.
