Mukesh Ambani Bets Big on AI: Here’s What You Need to Know from Reliance’s 47th AGM
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) hosted its 47th annual general meeting (AGM) on August 29, showcasing a forward-thinking strategy that promises to reshape India's digital future.
Chaired by Mukesh Ambani, the event featured major announcements focused on harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technology, signaling a significant leap in the company's digital ambitions.
Building the Future: AI-Ready Data Center in Jamnagar
A highlight of the AGM was the announcement of Reliance Jio's plan to build a massive AI-ready data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This isn't just another data center; it's a cornerstone of Reliance's vision to democratize AI in India. Powered entirely by green energy, this facility aims to make AI services affordable and accessible across the country.

"AI has the potential to transform every industry, but its true power lies in making it available to everyone," said Mukesh Ambani. With the new data center, Reliance plans to slash AI costs, positioning India as a global leader in AI accessibility. By leveraging its robust infrastructure and global partnerships, Reliance is set to offer AI at a scale and price point that could outpace global competitors.
Jio Brain: Driving AI Across Reliance
To support this ambitious AI initiative, Reliance unveiled Jio Brain, a comprehensive AI platform designed to accelerate AI adoption within the company. Jio Brain isn't just a tool-it's an engine driving innovation across all Reliance businesses. From data preparation to model deployment, Jio Brain is set to revolutionize the way Reliance operates, enabling smarter decision-making, more accurate predictions, and deeper customer insights.
"Jio Brain will be at the heart of our AI journey," Ambani stated, highlighting its role in transforming operations across all Reliance sectors. By embedding AI into every aspect of the business, Jio Brain will ensure that Reliance stays ahead of the curve in the fast-evolving digital landscape.
Jio AI Cloud: Bringing Cloud to the People
Reliance didn't stop at AI. The company also announced the Jio AI-Cloud Welcome Offer, which gives users up to 100 GB of free cloud storage. This offer, set to launch around Diwali, aims to make cloud storage as commonplace as internet access, allowing users to securely store and access their digital content with ease.
The Jio AI Cloud is more than just a storage solution; it's part of a broader strategy to bring advanced digital services to a wider audience. With a focus on affordability, this initiative is expected to disrupt the cloud market, making sophisticated storage solutions accessible to millions of users across India.
Expanding Horizons: Jio Bharat, JioAirFiber, and JioTvOS
Reliance is also pushing the envelope in digital services. During the AGM, Ambani revealed that the Jio Bharat entry-level 4G phone would be priced lower than existing 2G phones, a bold move aimed at expanding digital access in India. Additionally, the company is targeting 100 million home broadband customers with its JioAirFiber service, which will also cater to small and medium businesses.
In the realm of home entertainment, Akash Ambani introduced Jio TvOS, a new operating system for the Jio Set Top Box. Jio TvOS is designed to enhance the home viewing experience with features like Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. Accompanying this is JioTV+, a platform that aggregates over 860 live TV channels and content from popular streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Hotstar, all in one place.
Jio Phonecall AI: Redefining Communication
In a move that could change how people communicate, Reliance introduced Jio Phonecall AI. This innovative feature allows users to record and store any call in Jio Cloud, with the added benefits of automatic transcription, summarization, and even translation into different languages. This tool could become indispensable for users who need to manage and access their communications seamlessly.
