OPPO Find X10 Pro Max First Impressions: Bigger Cameras, Bigger Battery, and Plenty of Promise

OPPO has been making some seriously impressive flagship smartphones lately, and having spent plenty of time with last year's Find X9 Pro and Find X9 Ultra, I was particularly excited to see what the company had in store this time around. Well, the Find X10 Pro Max is finally here, and OPPO seems to have taken an already excellent formula and pushed things a little further.

I've been using the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max for a little while now, and although it's still too early to deliver a final verdict, I already have quite a few things to say about it. Here are my first impressions.

Design and Display

I'll start with the design because, quite frankly, the Find X10 Pro Max looks absolutely stunning in this Luna White finish. Compared to last year's Find X9 Pro, the new model has a slightly more lively appearance, and I personally prefer it. It still looks like a proper premium flagship, but there's a little more personality to the overall design this time.

The camera module retains the familiar shape from its predecessor, although OPPO has now given it a glass coating. As if the sheer size of the camera island wasn't enough to attract attention, the glossy finish makes it stand out even more against the rear panel. Personally, I quite like the contrast, and it gives the phone a distinct identity.

You'll also notice subtle orange accents around the camera module, a small but rather nice touch that reminds you of the Hasselblad partnership.

The frame is made of aluminium, and despite the phone having a noticeable heft, the curved corners make it surprisingly comfortable to hold for extended periods. Overall, the build quality is excellent, and there's very little to complain about here.

As for the buttons and ports, everything is where you'd expect it to be. OPPO has retained the Snap Key, although the dedicated camera control-style button that we saw on the previous generation is missing this time around. Whether that's something you'll miss depends on how frequently you used it.

Moving to the front, the Find X10 Pro Max features a large 6.78-inch LTPO display with a 144Hz refresh rate. And from my initial experience, it's a lovely panel.

Whether I'm watching movies, catching up on TV shows, or spending more time than I probably should scrolling through Instagram, the display has been a pleasure to use. The 144Hz refresh rate makes everything feel incredibly fluid, while the uniform bezels give the front a clean and symmetrical appearance.

Outdoor visibility has also been good so far. I've used the phone in direct sunlight while taking photos, and the display gets bright enough to comfortably frame shots and navigate the camera interface. I'll have more to say about the panel's overall quality in the full review, but my initial impressions are certainly positive.

Performance

Under the hood, the Find X10 Pro Max is powered by MediaTek's new Dimensity 9600 Pro, a flagship chipset built on a 2nm process. We had the chance to try this chip a few weeks ago, so I already had a fair idea of what to expect from the performance.

And unsurprisingly, the Find X10 Pro Max hasn't disappointed.

The Find X10 Pro Max comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. So far, everything from opening everyday apps and switching between them to browsing social media and playing games has been smooth.

I also spent some time playing BGMI, and the phone handled it without any noticeable trouble during my initial sessions. Of course, a chipset this powerful should be able to handle everyday tasks without breaking a sweat, but it's still reassuring to see that performance translate into a consistently fluid experience.

In AnTuTu, the Find X10 Pro Max scored 4 million, which should give us a better idea of where it stands against other flagship smartphones that will be coming with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

That said, it's still too early to comment on sustained gaming performance, thermal management, or how well the phone holds up under prolonged heavy workloads. Those are things I'll be testing over the coming days, so stay tuned for our full review.

Cameras

If there's one area where the Find X10 Pro Max really earns its Pro Max branding, it's the cameras.

OPPO has equipped the phone with a triple 200MP rear camera setup, which is quite an ambitious configuration even by modern flagship standards. And while megapixels aren't everything, having that much resolution across three cameras certainly makes things interesting.

The Hasselblad partnership continues as well, bringing familiar camera features and shooting modes, including XPAN, along with the brand's signature colour tuning.

I've only spent a few hours shooting with the Find X10 Pro Max, but my initial experience has been nothing short of impressive.

For starters, the main camera captures 26MP images by default, giving you higher-resolution photographs without having to switch to a dedicated high-resolution mode. The images I've captured so far have plenty of detail, while dynamic range and colour reproduction have been handled quite well.

What I particularly like is that the camera seems capable of preserving details in both brighter and darker areas of a scene without making the overall image look unnatural. Of course, I'll need to shoot in more challenging lighting conditions before drawing any conclusions.

The telephoto camera has also been a lot of fun to use, particularly for portraits. The initial results look promising, with good detail and pleasing subject separation. But portraits are also where things like skin tones, edge detection, and background rendering can make or break an image, so I'll reserve my final opinion until I've spent more time testing it.

There's also a 50MP selfie camera on the front, which I'll be putting through its paces alongside the rear cameras.

Battery and Charging

One of my favourite things about last year's Find X9 Pro was its battery life. I had practically zero complaints about it, which is why seeing an even larger 8,000mAh battery inside the Find X10 Pro Max is particularly exciting.

That said, battery capacity doesn't always translate directly into better battery life. The new chipset, display, and software optimisations will all play a role in determining how long the phone actually lasts. So, I am hoping the new 2nm-based processor manages efficiency well enough for the battery life to be more than just reliable.

As for charging, OPPO offers 80W wired fast charging, while wireless charging through its AIRVOOC technology tops out at 50W. Those are respectable numbers, but yes, the phone still misses out on Qi2 compatibility.

Early Verdict

It's still early days with the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, but my first impressions have been overwhelmingly positive. The white finish looks gorgeous, the display is excellent, and the new Dimensity 9600 Pro has handled everything I've thrown at it so far.

However, it's the cameras that have me most excited. Of course, a few hours of usage aren't enough to determine whether this is one of the best flagship phones of the year. I'll need more time with the cameras, battery, gaming performance, and everyday experience before making that call.

But if my initial experience is anything to go by, the Find X10 Pro Max is off to a very strong start. Stay tuned for our full review.
