Vivo V70 Elite Vs OnePlus 15R: Cameras Or Performance, What Matters More To You?
Vivo has just launched the V70 series in India, and the Vivo V70 Elite is clearly the headline device. With a Snapdragon 8-series chip, a large battery, and a triple-camera setup, it’s positioned as a near-flagship option in the mid-premium segment.

That puts it directly against the OnePlus 15R, which has built a reputation around strong performance and aggressive pricing. So how do the two actually compare on paper and in value? Let’s break it down.
Key Specs Comparison
| Specification | Vivo V70 Elite | OnePlus 15R |
| Starting Price | ₹51,999 (8GB + 256GB) | ₹47,999 (12GB + 256GB) |
| Processor | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 |
| Battery | 6,500mAh, 90W charging | 7,400mAh, 80W charging |
| Rear Cameras | 50MP main + 50MP telephoto + 8MP ultra-wide | 50MP main + 8MP ultra-wide |
| Front Camera | 50MP | 32MP |
| Display | 6.59″ AMOLED, 120Hz | 6.83″ AMOLED, 165Hz |
First, The Price Reality
The OnePlus 15R starts at ₹47,999 for 12GB + 256GB and goes up to ₹52,999 for 12GB + 512GB.
The Vivo V70 Elite starts higher at ₹51,999 for 8GB + 256GB. The 12GB + 256GB version costs ₹56,999, and the 12GB + 512GB model goes up to ₹61,999.
So right away, the OnePlus is more aggressive on pricing, especially if you care about getting 12GB RAM at the lowest possible entry point.
Performance: This One Isn’t Subtle
The OnePlus 15R runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (check our performance review), built on a 3nm process. Its benchmark scores are significantly higher, landing around 2.95 million on AnTuTu. Boot times are quicker, and gaming performance holds up well over longer sessions.
The Vivo V70 Elite uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 on a 4nm process. Its AnTuTu score sits around 1.81 million. That’s still fast, but it’s clearly a tier below. It feels more like balanced flagship-lite performance rather than full power mode.
If raw speed is your main filter, the OnePlus wins without debate.
Battery: Bigger Or Faster?
This one is interesting.
- OnePlus 15R packs a 7,400mAh battery with 80W charging.
- Vivo V70 Elite packs a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W charging.
A slightly faster charging doesn’t equate to much, so go with the OnePlus if you want the best endurance.
Cameras: This Is Where Vivo Pushes Back
This is where the two phones start feeling very different in approach.
The Vivo V70 Elite leans heavily into its camera story, and the ZEISS partnership is a big part of that. You get a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a proper 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. That telephoto lens isn’t just there for specs.

It gives you more natural portraits, cleaner zoom shots, and better framing without having to rely on digital crop. ZEISS tuning also plays into Vivo’s colour science and portrait processing, which is clearly something Vivo wants to highlight with this phone.
Up front, Vivo uses a 50MP selfie camera, which again fits into that “camera-first” positioning.
The OnePlus 15R takes a simpler route. It sticks to a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide, with no dedicated telephoto lens. The front camera is a 32MP unit, which is fine for everyday use, but clearly not the main talking point here.
If cameras are your priority, go with Vivo.
Display And Design Feel
On paper, the OnePlus 15R clearly goes big. Its 6.83-inch AMOLED display feels expansive, and the 165Hz refresh rate gives it that extra smoothness when scrolling or gaming. It’s the kind of screen that immediately feels tuned for performance and visual fluidity. The trade-off is size and weight. At 218 grams, the phone has some heft to it, and you feel that during longer one-handed use.

The Vivo V70 Elite takes a slightly different approach. Its 6.59-inch AMOLED panel is smaller, but it doesn’t feel compromised. The 120Hz refresh rate is still smooth enough for everyday use, and Vivo is clearly prioritising brightness here, with peak brightness figures aimed at better outdoor visibility. At 194 grams and with a slimmer profile, the V70 Elite feels easier to handle and less tiring over time.

So this isn’t really about which display is better on a spec sheet. It’s about how you use your phone. If you want a large, ultra-smooth screen and don’t mind the extra weight, the OnePlus 15R fits that brief. If you prefer something that’s easier to hold, lighter in the pocket, and more comfortable day to day, the Vivo V70 Elite feels like the more balanced choice.
Connectivity And Extras
Both phones offer IP68 and IP69 water resistance, stereo speakers, NFC, and dual SIM support.
OnePlus edges ahead with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Vivo sticks with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and an optical fingerprint scanner.
These aren’t deal breakers, but they add up depending on what you value.
Software And Updates
Both phones ship with Android 16 and promise:
- 4 years of major OS updates
- 6 years of security patches
OnePlus runs OxygenOS 16. Vivo runs OriginOS 6. This mostly comes down to interface preference.
Verdict
If performance per rupee is what you care about, the OnePlus 15R is the clear pick.
If camera versatility and optical zoom are your top priorities, the Vivo V70 Elite makes more sense.
Both are strong phones, but they’re built for very different buyers.
