April Fools' Day: Sony Outed Headphones for Cats While Nokia Came Out With A Touchscreen Oven
This April 1st, various companies decided to play some light hearted pranks online. Nokia, Twitter and Sony joined in on the action. What can be said? Nokia saying it's coming up with a smart-oven, Sony launching products for pets and Twitter charging for use of vowels is simply hilarious.
Sony said it is launching the Animalia line of products for cats, dogs and hamsters. The company in a blog said "Now that there are more households with pets than with children, we are targeting pet owners who want to provide unique entertainment experiences for their furry, four-legged family members," said Tom Barret, lead engineer for the Animalia line.
"Sony is known for making products that enrich our lives, and the Animalia line was developed for domesticated animals who also naturally seek visual, music and emotional experiences."
K9 4K TV
The TV as the name suggests is designed for dogs. TheTv is suppose to maximize blue and yellow colors of the display, while discarding green and red ones, to be more K9 friendly. Also the TV comes with a paw friendly two-button remote with controls for play and Skype. Dogs can use the skype feature to communicate with their owners.
M3-OW KittyCans
M3-OW KittyCans which fits on any cat supposedly comes with ActiveLight technology, which makes the headphones appear on, even when it's not. Now cats can pretend to listen to music and ignore it's owner's calls. You are thinking of using the same concept in your office aren't you?
In-Cage speakers
These speakers, which are meant for hamsters, are capsule sized speakers which fit in to any hamster cage. It is designed to pump in some energetic music, so your rodent pet can really hit the cardio wheal.
On the other hand, Nokia hinted that it is looking to diversify its business and announced that it will be stepping into the world of home appliances. The company has said that it will be launching it's first ever touch-screen microwave oven, Nokia 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation.
The next-gen oven is said to come with water-cooled 8-core high-voltage transformer, which brings a combined performance of 5,000 watts to end-users. Nokia claims that the oven offers 25 different performance levels, which can be used to heat up various dishes in a matter of seconds.
"Nokia has a proven track record and extensive IPR in working with microwave radios, so for us this was a logical next step. We can attack our competition in their core business," says Olavi Huhtikuu, Nokia's director of household innovation.
"That's why we developed the highly innovative 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation, which will revolutionize everything from single households to canteen kitchens" He added.
As you the image shows the oven's looks share a resemblance to the Nokia Lumia handsets.
The oven comes with a eye-tracking sensors which is said to stop the food from rotating once you look at it. The home appliance is also said to come with a high-resolution camera, which can take photographs of the food, you are cooking and will automatically share the pics via social networks, so you friends and family can see what you are cooking.
The Constellation is expected to begin shipping by Q2 of this year. The oven is expected to be priced at €399 (Rs. 27695.19).
Well, take it lightly, as it was all announced to keep the with the light mood of April Fool's day! Well, tried Nokia and Sony.
