Exclusive: Intex Planning to Launch a Smartwatch in 2015
After the launch of Intex's first Firefox-OS powered smartphone earlier this year there were many doubts whether the company would ever unveil the second-generation device onto the market.
On the sidelines of Intex's Aqua Power smartphone launch in Delhi, Sudhir Kumar, DGM- Telecom, Intex Technologies, has officially squashed all rumors that suggested the company is no more supporting Mozilla's Firefox OS.

The top executive over at Intex has clarified that the company will launch a 4.5-inch Firefox OS-based smartphone with modified hardware in April next year. It would be priced around Rs. 5,000. Mr. Kumar, however, has not revealed the specifications of the said device.
During an exclusive interaction with GizBot, he seemed content with Mozilla's ambitions to capture the low-end smartphone market. We've also got to know that Mozilla, the company behind Firefox OS, is currently working out a way to add more applications to its app store before the second-generation Firefox OS-based handsets will go on sale next year.
While there's a lot of buzz around the wearable gadgets, such as smartwatches and fitness-centric bands, Mr. Kumar said they are closely monitoring on this segment of the market as well.
The market for wearable gadgets in India is still small; however, Intex has plans to launch its smartwatch, alongside the smartband, in April next year. In fact, the company has already finalized the designs of the upcoming wearable gadgets. While many users are still patiently waiting for the Apple Watch, Intex's smatwatch could be another viable option.
