Dyson has launched the CameraJet AI toothbrush, bringing an unusual combination of artificial intelligence, computer vision and automated flossing to everyday oral care. Priced at $499, the premium electric toothbrush features a built-in camera that analyses the user's mouth while brushing and uses a liquid jet to target gaps between teeth.

The launch raises an obvious question: is this the future of smart dental care, or is it simply another example of technology being added to something that already works perfectly well? The answer is more complicated than either extreme.
