These are the Top 7 Most Overpriced Technology Inventions!
Technology is an ever-expanding and transforming space and newer products are replacing older ones more frequently then ever. In the consumer tech market, a lot of devices are a necessity while some of them are extremely overhyped or overpriced.

Here we have curated a list of the top 7 most overpriced/overhyped technology that currently sells in the global market. Do note that this will not be a list of the most expensive stuff but a list of what product's price is most deviated from its offered value.
Apple Watch Edition
Apple launched their first smartwatch in 2015, the Apple Watch. With three variants - Sport, Standard and Edition - the company aims at targeting all kinds of income groups. Although slightly expensive, the first two variants are pretty competitive with the other brands. The Edition variant is another story altogether. With the price starting at $10,000 and going up till a whopping $17,000, the Apple Watch Edition is made of 22-carat gold and designed only for the super rich. You still have to charge it every night, though.
Luxury smartphones
Much like the Apple Watch Edition, there are many companies out there that put precious gems on a smartphone and sell it at exorbitant prices. Case in point, Lamborghini. The car manufacturer sells a smartphone with specifications like Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 Kitkat, 5.0-inch Full HD display and a 20MP camera. It is priced at a massive $6,000. The company's branding and use of premium material is justified for the price tag but I don't think anyone can digest the fact that a smartphone with 2015-grade specs can be sold for 10 times the price of a latest iPhone.
Premium HDMI cables
HDMI cables are almost an essential part of anyone's household TV and digital equipment. Providing an easy and simple way to connect monitors and screens, HDMI cables are usually priced around the Rs. 500-1000 mark in India, which is anyway a bit expensive. What is worse is that some companies claim that their cables are faster or that the material they use is much better and durable. There is technical proof that the speed of an HDMI cable is not variable and is only determined by the port. Also, using gold plating and silver plating is a big gimmick because the normal copper wiring is sufficient to provide extensive safety from breakages.
Sennheiser Orpheus
Prepare to get your mind blown. The Orpheus is a set of headphones from Sennheiser that costs a whopping $50,000! While the unit has fancy and premium bass/treble controls, highly premium materials and superb sound, that price seems extremely inflated given the fact that much better headphones are available at 1/10th of the cost, as claimed by reviewers.
Apple Mac Pro
While Apple last refreshed the Mac Pro supercomputer in 2013, it is bound to get an upgrade as soon as Q3 2016, it seems. It is currently the most expensive computer in the world and comes with powerful specifications like a 12-core Intel processor, 12GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive and a lot more. This model is priced at around $3799 or Rs. 3,00,000, and is just the base model! While some may argue that it offers powerful specifications, the issue here is that you can assemble your own computer at more than half the price - with those specifications.
Apple Lisa
Moving back to the 1980s, the Apple Lisa is the company's second product in our list. And, rightfully so. During the early 1980s, computers had just begun to enter the consumer market and there were big players like Apple and Xerox. With the launch of the Apple Lisa, the Cupertino giant became the first software manufacturer to bring a mainstream operating system to the table. The only problem was that it was priced at $10,000 (Apple Watch, you remember?) and, quite apparently, didn't sell many units during that time.
Blackberry Playbook
In 2011, Blackberry had already started its phase of extinction from the tech world and then came the Blackberry Playbook. The first Tablet PC from Blackberry, the Playbook was nothing short of a half-baked device launched hurriedly to compete with the other players in the same market. The result was that the launch was a flop and the device caught a lot of dust on retail store shelves for a long time. Within a year, the price was lowered down to a mere $180 that also didn't see much action to be honest.
