Big things happen when fashion combines with technology. Take the evolution of smartwatches and smartband, for example. And in days going forward, the combination will only bring great things.
Keeping to the present scenario for the moment, Opening Ceremony and Intel Corporation are set to introduce a brand new smart bracelet that's been developed via a collaboration between the two -- MICA, "My Intelligent Communication Accessory,"
Set to be introduced at Opening Ceremony Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show, this new bracelet has been designed by Opening Ceremony and engineered by Intel. The Opening Ceremony Spring/Summer 2015 fashion show is set for September 7, 2014.
MICA is basically a feminine fashion accessory that comes with communications capabilities. It has been conceived and designed from start to finish in collaboration with a fashion designer and a global technology company.
But this isn't a new project. Opening Ceremony and Intel had already announced in January 2014 at the CES conference in Las Vegas their intent to create a smart bracelet with design by Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim and technology integration and industrial design expertise contributed by Intel.
"As a feminine accessory blending seamlessly into everyday life, MICA ushers in a new era converging fashion and technology by integrating a woman's luxury accessory with technology in order to complement and enhance a woman's work and social life," the official page states.
The new MICA bracelet enables women to stay connected via SMS messages, meeting alerts, and general notifications delivered directly to the wrist. It also comes with additional features and functionalities that are to be revealed at a later date.
The bracelet's brilliant design combines semi-precious gems and water snakeskin with advanced technology including communications capabilities and wireless charging support.MICA will be available in two styles constructed of premium finishes with a curved sapphire glass touchscreen display.
While one style will feature black watersnake skin, pearls from China, and lapis stones from Madagascar, the other style will feature white watersnake skin, tiger's eye from South Africa, and obsidian from Russia.
