To swipe the entire spotlight at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, several companies have launched their main devices of the year at the tech show.

The genre of devices that are launched is not only restricted smartphones and tablets, but also includes processors, headsets, weird gadgets and more. However, offering all the products under one roof is quite a tedious task.

Hence, Gizbot has come up with a different approach this weekend and is offering all the smartphone and tablet launches that happened in India and those that happened that CES 2013 event with an increased possibility of coming to India.

Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL

Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL

Sony has come up with its biggest launch of 2013 at the tech show. The company launched Xperia Z and Xperia ZL with almost similar specifications.

Both the handsets pack a 5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and with Mobile Bravia Engine 2, quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 13MP rear camera, 2.2MP front camera for video calling, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE.

When it comes to difference, Xperia ZL is heavier than Xperia Z and it has a slightly larger battery of 2,370 mAh as compared to the 2,330 mAh of Xperia Z.

Apart from this, Xperia Z is water resistance and dust proof, while its counterpart is not.

Ascend Mate boasts a spacious 6.1 inch Super IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.5GHz quad core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP HD front camera, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB 2.0 and a 4,050 mAh battery.

On the other hand, Ascend D2 packs a 5 inch Super Retina IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz quad core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 13MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera for video calling, 32GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3,000 mAh battery.

Further, Huawei also launched a Windows Phone 8 based handset - Ascend W1 with 4 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 4GB internal memory, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,950 mAh Li-Po battery.

At the CES event, Lenovo launched a smartphone based on Intel's Clover Trail+ processor. The handset packs a 5.5 inch IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video chatting, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and micro USB.

There is no word on the pricing of K900 and the smartphone will be launched in China in April and in selected markets thereafter.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus

Galaxy S2 Plus has been unveiled running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system and has been launched with a slight spec promotion as compared to Galaxy S2.

The handset packs a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1.2GHz dual core processor, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling, 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC (optional), micro USB 2.0 and a 1,650 mAh Li-ion battery of undisclosed backup.

Galaxy S2 Plus is equipped with features including Buddy Photo Share, Group Facetag, Allshare Play, Popup Video, S Voice and Direct Call. As of now, there is no official word regarding the price and availability of Galaxy S2 Plus.

After a long wait, Nokia released Lumia 820 and 920 smartphones in India at Rs 38,199 and Rs 27,559 respectively.

Specwise, Lumia 920 sports a 4.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels along with PureMotion HD and ClearBlack display technologies. The handset is equipped with an 8.7MP rear camera with PureView branding, 1.3MP front camera, 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB 2.0, NFC connectivity and 2,000 mAh Li-ion battery. The handset will come in Red, Yellow, Cyan, White and Black color options.

On the other hand, Lumia 820 packs a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixels. The handset has a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, 8MP camera with the PureView technology, a VGA front camera video calling, NFC and 1,650 mAh Li-ion battery. When it comes to color variants, Lumia 820 comes in White, Black, Yellow and Red.

Zync refreshed its phablet - Cloud Z5 with a 1GHz dual core processor and improved Android 4.0.3 ICS OS. The device packs a 5 inch 5 point multi-touch LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, dual core 1GHz processor, Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 8MP rear camera, a 0.3MP front camera, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and 2,500 mAh Li-ion battery.

The new and upgraded version of the phablet is priced at Rs 11,990.

Lava has forayed into the phablet market with Iris 501 sporting a 5 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, micro USB 2.0 and a 2,300 mAh Li-Po battery of undisclosed backup.

Further, Iris 501 also comes with special built in apps like Hike - for free messaging, Saavn Music player app, Fusion Music organizer app and games from Gameloft like Asphalt HD.

Acer today announced the Iconia B1-A71 tablet targeted at young or new users or families looking for an additional tablet for their children. The tablet sports a 7 inch WSVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 1.2GHz dual core MediaTek processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro SD card slot for expandable storage support, 0.3MP front facing camera and a 2,710 mAh battery.

Lenovo announced an entirely new form factor, dubbed a Table PC. Formally called the IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC, Lenovo's new gadget runs Windows 8 and supports multitouch, allowing multiple users to interact with the device at a single time.

The IdeaCentre Horizon has a 27-inch screen and is targeted largely at consumers. Lenovo noted that the device can be laid flat on any surface and when paired with included accessories such as e-dice and joysticks, is ideal for multiplayer gaming. The gigantic tablet can also be propped up by a built-in smart hinge allowing it to be used as an all-in-one PC.

Lenovo said the new IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC will be sold through both its channel and website, starting this summer at $1,699 (approx. Rs 92,300).

Lenovo has released a new Android 4.0 based 7 inch tablet in the country today - IdeaTab A2107 - at a budget price of Rs 14,000.

On the specs front, the tablet is flavored with Android 4.0 ICS and packs a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, 1GHz Cortex A9 MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, in-built 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB and a battery delivering up to 8 hours backup.

Simmtronics has launched a new voice calling tablet, namely X-801.The tablet comes with an 8 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, Android 4.0 ICS, SIM card support for voice calling, 8GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, Wi-Fi, 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera and a 4,000 mAh battery.

The XPAD X-801 will soon be available in all leading stores along with e-commerce websites at price point of Rs 8,499.

At the CES 2013, Asus unveiled the world's first AiO PC with a detachable tablet, which can function on both Windows 8 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Asus claims the Transformer AiO will retail for $1,299 (approx. Rs 71,200) with a Core i3 chip starting Q1 2013.

In desktop mode, the Transformer AiO runs on Windows 8 sporting an 18.4-inch full-HD IPS touch screen with a 1920x1080-pixel revolution. The machine is powered by 3rd generation Intel Core processors with NVIDIA GT 730M graphics.

Once the screen is detached, users will be equipped with an 18.4-inch Android 4.1 tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor powering the standalone device. The tablet will also have the Windows 8 OS for users to choose as per their liking.
