Amazon Launches AI Smart Glasses to Make Deliveries Safer and Hands-Free

Amazon has launched its first smart delivery glasses, making the DA experience even safer and more seamless. The AI-powered glasses are designed specifically for DAs, which will help them scan packages, follow turn-by-turn walking directions, and capture proof of delivery without the use of a smartphone. Let's take a look at the features of the new glasses.

Amazon Smart Glasses Features

Amazon's smart glasses have AI-powered sensing capabilities and computer vision. It even has cameras to create a heads-up display that includes everything from navigation details to hazards to delivery tasks. The glasses create a hands-free experience for DAs, reducing the need to look between the phone, the package, and the area.

When drivers safely park at a delivery location, the glasses automatically activate, displaying all the necessary delivery details. From identifying the correct packages inside the vehicle to matching them with the right addresses.

After that, the display provides walking, turn-by-turn navigation powered by Amazon's geospatial technology, guiding DAs precisely to the delivery spot without having a look at their phones.

The glasses also come with a compact controller worn in the delivery vest, featuring operational controls, a swappable battery for all-day use, and an emergency button to contact help if needed. They also support prescription and transition lenses that automatically adjust to light.

Amazon says, ''Throughout the development process, we turned to the experts-drivers themselves-to get it right. Hundreds of DAs tested early versions of the glasses and provided crucial feedback. Their insights shaped everything from the glasses' comfort for all day use to the clarity of the displays.''

"I felt safer the whole time because the glasses have the info right in my field of view," explains Kaleb M., a DA working for Maddox Logistics Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska, who tested the technology. "Instead of having to look down at a phone, you can keep your eyes forward and look past the display-you're always focused on what's ahead."
