Apple’s Foldable Devices Could Launch in 2026, Report Suggests
Apple might be getting ready to flip the script on its devices. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has unveiled fresh details about the company's foray into foldable devices. Here's what we know so far.
Two Foldable Devices on the Horizon
Kuo predicts Apple will launch not just one, but potentially two foldable devices in the first half of 2026. This aligns with previous rumors suggesting a late 2025 or early 2026 launch for a foldable tablet-like device.

Size Matters
Apple is reportedly considering two sizes: a larger 20.25-inch option and a slightly smaller 18.8-inch option. When folded, these transform into more portable 14-15 inches and 13-14 inches, respectively.
LG Display: The Sole Supplier of Creaseless Panels
LG Display is tipped to be the exclusive supplier of these foldable panels. Apple prioritizes a creaseless design, which is likely to drive up the cost of the device.
High Costs
Early estimates suggest the foldable panels themselves could cost around $600-$650, with the hinges adding another $200-$250. Amphenol is rumored to be Apple's hinge supplier.
M5 Power
Both foldable devices are expected to be powered by Apple's next-generation M5 series chip.
Pricing and Shipment Expectations
Considering the high component costs, analyst Kuo predicts a launch price similar to the current Vision Pro, which starts at a hefty $3,499. Despite the price tag, shipments are still expected to reach a significant 1 million units.
Foldable MacBook: A Possibility
While the exact form factor remains unclear, some speculate these devices could be a foldable MacBook. This aligns with reports suggesting LG Display is targeting mass production of the foldable panels for the fourth quarter of 2025, with assembly potentially starting in the first half of 2026.
The Takeaway
Apple's foldable ambitions seem to be taking shape, with a potential launch date sooner than previously anticipated. While the high costs may translate to a premium price tag, the innovative design and powerful M5 chip could make these foldables a compelling option for Apple enthusiasts with deep pockets.
