Google has officially unveiled its first smart speaker in nearly six years. The Google Home Speaker marks a major ecosystem shift. The speaker focuses on conversational speech rather than rigid, pre-programmed voice commands.

Pre-orders are already live on the web store. The device goes on official sale beginning June 25, 2026. This smart speaker brings cutting-edge AI capabilities directly to the living room. It offers a modern alternative to older Nest hardware in India.

Upgrading Smart Home Control with Gemini

Gemini for Home brings advanced logic-based conversational abilities. Device users do not need to recite precise, memorised phrases anymore. Instead, you can issue multiple complex commands in a single breath. You can also correct yourself mid-sentence if you make a wording mistake.

The assistant offers ten distinct, natural-sounding voices. It also supports Continued Conversation across all compatible languages. This clever design lets you ask follow-up questions without repeating the wake word. The AI uses its short-term memory to maintain conversational context.

Hardware Design and Core Specifications

The Google Home Speaker features a compact, spherical design. A custom, sustainable 3D-knit fabric wraps the outer shell. This exterior fabric uses 37 percent recycled materials by weight. An underglow light ring sits at the device base. It displays dynamic status cues when Gemini listens or thinks. For privacy, a physical switch completely mutes the microphones.

The speaker delivers rich, 360-degree audio through a single 58 mm driver. This neat setup provides 2.5 times stronger bass response than the older Nest Mini. Local AI performance is powered by a quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 processor. The chipset features an integrated NPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 4 GB of storage.

It supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thread 1.3 connectivity. This means the device also functions as a local Matter smart hub. Google includes a 30W USB-C power adapter in the retail box. A 59.1-inch captive power cable comes permanently attached.

A monthly subscription called Google Home Premium unlocks advanced tools. This service powers Gemini Live for back-and-forth conversational chatting. Subscribers also get smart Nest camera history search and daily Home Briefs. Buyers will receive a generous six months of Premium for free.
