Google on Fitbit Air's Missing Sleep Breathing Quality Feature: It Is Coming Soon
Google Fitbit Air launched in India earlier this month and has been the talk of town ever since. The screenless fitness tracker launched globally in May this year and has made numerous headlines over the last few months. However, one feature has been missing ever since - sleep breathing quality.
And now, Google has confirmed that sleep breathing quality is coming to Fitbit Air soon. The feature is available on select Pixel Watch models already. Curious? Read on.

Google Fitbit Air To Get Sleep Breathing Quality Feature Soon
Speaking to Android Authority, a Google spokesperson confirmed that the feature is on its way to Fitbit Air. As per the Android Authority report, the spokesperson said, “Sleep Breathing Quality launched first on Pixel Watches and will come to Fitbit Air soon.”
The feature first arrived on the Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5 in September. However, Fitbit Air users noticed that sleep breathing quality was missing, even though the tracker supports other Health Guardian insights.
Google had previously indicated that all three Health Guardian features would arrive on the screenless Fitbit Air later this year. The staggered rollout was not made clear in the original announcement, and the feature's absence from Google's app and store listings raised questions about its availability.
Google's latest statement suggests that Fitbit Air will indeed get the much-asked-for feature soon. However, a specific launch date is still missing.
What Is Sleep Breathing Quality?
Sleep breathing quality is part of Google's Health Guardian suite, which also includes blood pressure trends and insulin resistance trends. These features are designed to help users track changes in their health over time.
While the Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5 support all three insights, Fitbit Air currently offers only the blood pressure and insulin resistance trends through Google Health Premium.
Google is yet to clarify whether sleep breathing quality on Fitbit Air will also require a Google Health Premium subscription.
Will Fitbit Edge Get Sleep Breathing Quality?
Google has not confirmed whether the sleep breathing quality feature will come to Fitbit Edge, another device that currently lacks the insight. The company's latest statement specifically mentions Fitbit Air, leaving the wider rollout plans unclear.
For now, Fitbit Air users will have to wait for Google to share more details about the feature's availability and rollout timeline. But with the statement of the spokesperson, it indeed is clear that the feature will make its way to the fitness tracker.
