Amazon's electronic books product range Kindle has several features along with a great built quality that makes them a great device for book lovers. Now, The brand may introduce a new feature to its most basic model which will bring it in-line with Kindle Oasis. While Kindle Oasis has features including waterproof design and support for Audible, Kindle's most basic e-reader may also get equipped with a similar feature.

Kindle's product page mentions that the Kindle e-reader will soon support the Audible feature. The Audible feature allows users to listen to e-books by connecting to a headphone or to the Bluetooth speaker.

Although Kindle Oasis offers the feature, it does not come with onboard speakers. Kindle's basic e-reader has far fewer features as compared to Oasis which is a rather premium model. It is quite interesting to see that Amazon has planned to upgrade the basic e-reader while no such information is available for the Voyage and Paperwhite e-readers from Kindle.

The device is one of the most sold Kindle products as well given its pocket-friendly price and form factor.

Moreover, Kindle and Audible are both Amazon's products and hence an integration between the two is quite appropriate. Also, the increase in popularity of the audiobooks also speaks for itself.

In recent years audiobooks have accumulated substantial user base with more and more users getting used to the technology each day. Amazon is not only preparing itself for the future but probably aims to get an insight on the usage of Audible.

The update will be rolled out over the air and will most probably be released in a few weeks.
