Oppo ColorOS 17 Global Rollout Begins October 29: Eligible Phones, New features and More
Oppo has finally announced the global rollout schedule for ColorOS 17. The update will first arrive on select flagship phones before expanding to older Find series devices, Reno smartphones and other models over the coming months. The new software brings along with it a redesigned interface, improved performance and several AI-powered features aimed at making everyday tasks easier. Oppo will begin rolling out the update shortly after the global launch of its Find X10 series. Read on to know the complete rollout schedule, along with the key features coming to eligible devices.
ColorOS 17 rollout schedule: Which Oppo phones will get the update first?
According to the rollout schedule shared by Oppo, the Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max will launch globally on October 21 with ColorOS 17 pre-installed. Owners of older devices will have to wait a little longer, with the update expected to reach select models starting October 29.
The first batch includes the Oppo Find N6, Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s, Find X9 Pro and Find X9. On October 30, the update will begin rolling out to the Find N5, Find X8 Pro and Find X8, along with the Reno 16 series. This includes the Reno 16 Pro, Reno 16, Reno 16c, Reno 16 F and Reno 16 FS.

In November, Oppo plans to expand the rollout to the Reno 15 and Reno 14 series, followed by select F and K series phones. More Reno and K series models, along with some Oppo tablets, are expected to receive the update later. The rollout will continue through the first three months of 2027.
It is worth noting that these dates mark the start of the rollout, so the update may not reach every eligible device on the same day. Availability could also vary by region and device.
ColorOS 17 features: What is new?
ColorOS 17 introduces a new design approach called Living Flow Design. Building on the interface changes introduced with ColorOS 15 and ColorOS 16, the latest version adds more movement to on-screen elements. Buttons and other interactive parts of the interface can now stretch, compress or bounce when users interact with them.
Performance is another key focus. Oppo has introduced a Unified Rendering Architecture that brings different rendering tasks together to reduce unnecessary work. The company claims this can reduce rendering load by 25 per cent and RAM usage by 30 per cent.
The updated Laminar Flow Engine is also designed to improve multitasking. According to Oppo, it allows phones to keep 25 per cent more apps open in the background. The Gallery app can load thumbnails 50 per cent faster when opened from a cold start, while app launch stability has improved by 55 per cent.
New AI features and privacy upgrades
Artificial intelligence is another major part of the update. AI Mind Pilot's Agent Mode can organise and rename photos and files based on their content and date. It can also handle multi-step tasks, such as collecting pictures from a trip, sorting them into albums and helping create a vlog.
AI Mind Space is getting new features for learning and travel planning. Users can add documents and video links, which the tool can turn into organised, searchable information. It can also combine saved content with destination maps to help create personalised travel plans.
Oppo is also addressing privacy concerns around AI processing. Its Private Computing Cloud uses end-to-end encryption and a secure environment to handle certain tasks. The company says this setup prevents even Oppo itself from accessing the protected data. ColorOS 17 also adds post-quantum security features to strengthen data transmission.
Another addition is AI Call Guard, which can detect signs of AI-generated face swaps and synthetic voices directly on the device. This could help users identify certain forms of digital impersonation without relying entirely on cloud processing.
With ColorOS 17, Oppo is focusing on three main areas: a more responsive interface, better multitasking and AI tools that can handle everyday tasks. However, users will need to wait for the update to reach their specific devices, as the rollout will continue into early 2027.
