Report: No New iPad Mini, iMac, or MacBook Pro at Today’s Apple Event—Here’s When They Could Launch

Apple enthusiasts hoping to see new iPad and Mac models unveiled at today's event may be disappointed. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the tech giant is holding off on launching these products until a potential October event.

Expected to headline the delayed launch are upgraded iPads, MacBooks, iMacs, and a revamped Mac Mini, all of which could be powered by the new M4 chip.

Report: Apple’s New iPad & Mac Mini Likely Delayed Until October Event

No iPad Mini at Today's Event

A new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman indicates that Apple is preparing to unveil a new iPad Mini (7th generation). However, this device won't be announced at today's event, which is expected to focus on the iPhone and Apple Watch. Instead, Apple may choose to spotlight the iPad Mini and other products at a dedicated October event.

The iPad Mini 7 is expected to maintain the design of its predecessor, with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina LCD display and Touch ID. This means that features like Face ID won't be included just yet, and users will likely have to wait until 2025 or 2026 for an OLED display version.

Under the hood, the iPad Mini 7 is rumored to feature an updated Apple A17 or A18 chip, offering improved performance. Apple might also increase the RAM, making the device compatible with the upcoming Apple Intelligence features. Storage upgrades are also expected, though specific details have not yet been confirmed.

One of the standout features could be support for the new Apple Pencil Pro, which comes with advanced tools like a double tap or squeeze option for better control. This new stylus also includes haptic feedback and Apple's Find My feature, helping users locate it if lost.

New iPads and Macs Expected in October

The rumored October event won't just be about the iPad Mini. Apple is also expected to introduce updates to its Mac lineup, including a new Mac Mini powered by the M4 chip. According to reports, the new Mac Mini will come with 16GB of RAM in the base model and a more compact design, possibly resembling the size of an Apple TV.

The shift to a smaller form factor may lead to changes in port configuration, with the potential removal of USB-A ports in favor of more USB-C sockets.

Alongside the Mac Mini, an updated iMac with 8GB of RAM and M4 chipset is anticipated, as well as new MacBook Pro models. The MacBook Pro could also come with additional features that enhance its performance and display capabilities.

iPad Mini Supply Shortages and Delays

According to Gurman, Apple's stock of iPad Mini 6 models has been running low globally, suggesting the company is preparing for the launch of its successor. However, it seems that the iPad Mini 7 won't be available until the October event, as Apple appears to be reserving these major product announcements for a later date.

While today's event is unlikely to feature iPads, rumors suggest that a new generation of the entry-level iPad could also be in the works for October. This iPad, like the Mini, is expected to come with improved processing power, enabling it to fully support Apple Intelligence features.

Apple's October event is shaping up to be a significant moment for fans of the brand's larger-screen devices, as it could introduce a wide range of products featuring the next-generation M4 chip and upgraded hardware.
