Robotic Arm, 360-Degree Display: Apple's Next Home View Has a Lot in Store

Just last week, Apple launched a new Home View with a 7-inch display packed with features like Siri AI and facial recognition. However, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, an upgraded Home View is already in the works.

The Cupertino-based tech giant may be working on a more premium version of the smart home display with a larger 9-inch screen, a motorised robotic arm and 360-degree rotation. Read on to know more.

Apple's Next Home View May Get a Robotic Arm and More

The upcoming Home View, reportedly codenamed J595, could feature a 9-inch display attached to a motorised robotic arm. This would allow the screen to swivel 360 degrees and turn towards the person speaking to it.

Unlike a conventional smart display that remains fixed in one position, the upgraded Home View could follow conversations around the room. This could make it more useful for video calls, voice interactions and controlling smart home devices from different parts of a room.

However, Apple has not officially confirmed the device or its specifications, so it is best to treat this information with caution.

The Home View is not the only smart home product Apple is reportedly developing. Gurman adds that the company is also working on an AI-powered security camera, codenamed J450, which is expected to launch later in 2027.

The camera is reportedly being designed with a focus on privacy, although details about its features and pricing remain limited for now.

Apple Home View Launched in India at Rs 39,900

Apple launched its new HomeView smart display in India last week with a 7-inch screen, an aluminium body and a speaker base. Priced at Rs 39,900, it is available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, although the wall mount has to be purchased separately.

Pre-orders have opened on Apple's India store, with deliveries scheduled to begin on November 13.

The HomeView's biggest highlight is Siri AI, Apple's revamped voice assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. It can handle more natural conversations, answer general knowledge questions and understand on-screen content. Users with compatible iPhones or iPads can also let Siri access personal information, including calendar events, messages and Apple Music playlists, and take action across apps.

The display also supports FaceTime with Center Stage, facial recognition for up to six people, smart home controls and live camera feeds. Apple has also focused on privacy, with personal information shown only when the recognised user's paired device is nearby and was recently unlocked.
