UBTECH's Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Robot now available for pre-order
UBTECH has developed a real-life Stormtrooper robot from the Star Wars. It will retail for $299.99 in the US (approx. Rs. 19,000).
UBTECH is a company that specializes in the development of artificially intelligent and humanoid robotics. It not only develops advanced robotics that tends to help kids in STEM education but it also comes up with knick-knacks for enthusiasts and fans every once in a while.
UBTECH recently came up with a treat for Star Wars fans, the Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper robot. The robot comes with an augmented reality app. It also supports voice commands along with facial recognition. The facial recognition system can learn to recognize up to three faces and although it won't unlock in any manner using the system it certainly will acknowledge your presence using it.
The voice-activated command feature allows users to deploy the robot to launch "attacks".
What is rather more useful of the features is the robots ability to patrol around a designated area. It will also notify you if an intruder hops in. The robot does not run into obstacles and furniture since it houses an Infra Red sensor.
The robot responds to customized interactions through the mobile app. It connects to a smartphone using Wi-Fi and the transmission is 128-bit AES encrypted. Neither the Robot nor the mobile phone app stores user's personal data which makes it secure to have around without having to worry about privacy getting jeopardized.
We have seen similar robots coming to life right out of Star Wars. The BB-8 droid released by Disney a couple of years ago was a fascinating gizmo to have around.
UBTECH's Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Robot retails for US$299.99 (approx. Rs. 19,600). It is available for pre-order on UBTECH's website and with few retailers.
