Vivo Vision Mixed Reality Headset Set To Launch on August 21 - What to Expect

Vivo is gearing up to launch its new mixed reality headset, the Vivo Vision, in China on August 21. The development of the headset was officially confirmed by Han Boxiao, Product Manager at Vivo, in a post on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. He also shared an image of the device, which matches the design first showcased back in March.

The upcoming gadget will likely have an ultra-lightweight metallic build, with a sleek and premium look. Let's take a look at what to expect from the upcoming product.

Vivo Vision Mixed Reality Headset – What to Expect?

Weighing in at around 380 grams, the Vivo Vision is said to be lighter than the Apple Vision Pro (650 grams) and comparable in weight to the AirPods Max over-ear headphones.

It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm processor. The front will also feature a large glass visor, while a thick headband at the back ensures a secure fit - both elements reminiscent of the Apple Vision Pro. Notably, the right arm will house a rotating dial at the top, accompanied by two buttons below it.

According to Han, Vivo has also set up an MR experience zone, where attendees were able to try out the headset and came away impressed by three key innovations the company has implemented.

Conclusion

The introduction of the Vivo Vision comes at a time when several tech giants are also exploring mixed reality technologies. Companies like Apple and Meta have already made strides in this field, indicating a competitive market landscape for Vivo's upcoming product.

Despite the competition, Vivo's entry into the mixed reality space could diversify its product portfolio significantly. By venturing into this emerging market, Vivo aims to establish itself as a key player in the realm of AR and VR technologies.

The pricing strategy for the Vivo Vision remains unclear at this stage. However, competitive pricing could be crucial in attracting consumers who are considering similar products from established brands. The success of this headset could potentially influence future developments in mixed reality technology within China and beyond.
