Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro: Top rumored specs of Xiaomi's upcoming rival to OnePlus X

Xiaomi is a Chinese smartphone brand that changed the market dynamics in developing markets like China and India in a short period of time.

With its portfolio of specs-heavy entry level and mid-range smartphones, fitness band, TV and other interesting devices, Xiaomi has garnered success and grown to become a threat to not only local as well as top OEMs.

The company's Redmi Note series of devices have been amongst most talked about smartphones due to their specifications and features, and aggressive prices. Xiaomi is now planning to add a new smartphone to this lineup to take on its rivals in the market.

The company is rumored to be prepping the successor to the Redmi Note 2, which was launched back in August. This new smartphone is expected to be called Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro. While the company is yet to announce this phone, most of its specs details have already surfaced online. The phone will most likely be unveiled in November.

Here we list down rumored specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro smartphone.

All metal Design:

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro seems to be a more premium looking aluminum-clad version of the Redmi Note 2, which donned a plastic body.

Fingerprint scanner:

These days, fingerprint scanner on smartphone has become one hot feature. The Redmi Note 2 Pro is also believed to be the first Xiaomi handset to feature a fingerprint scanner. Recently leaked images showed the phone with rear-facing fingerprint scanner placed below dual LED flash.

Full HD display:

Rumors suggest that Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro will feature a similar display as the Redmi Note 2. You will get a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution.

Hexa-core chipset:

Processor is expected to be one of the key differentiator between the Redmi Note 2 and its Pro version. The MediaTek MT6795 SoC will get replaced by the Snapdragon 808 hexa-core CPU with Adreno 418 GPU.

Different versions:

It is likely that the phone be launched in two variations - one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage, and other with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

Camera:

There will not be a change in the camera department, as the upcoming phone is likely to sport a 13MP rear snapper, and a 5MP front-facing shooter, which are also seen on the Redmi Note 2.

Battery:

To keep the phone working, there will most likely be a 3060mAh battery under the hood.

Price:

Going by the rumors, the 16GB version of the phone is likely to be priced for $173 USD or about Rs 11,400, while the 32GB could be priced at $236 USD or Rs 15,500.
