CP Plus ezyKam+ (Z43Q) Review: A Feature-Packed Entry-Level Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera

Stepping into the smart-security arena, the CP Plus ezyKam+ (Z43Q) immediately comes across as one of those rare cameras that feels both simple and capable right out of the box. It offers a 4 MP (2560 × 1440) sensor, full-colour night vision, pan-tilt functionality, and Wi-Fi connectivity-all packed into a compact, weather-ready body.

Priced at ₹3,999, it's clearly targeting users who want dependable outdoor surveillance without paying a premium. But does it actually live up to what's promised on paper? Let's dig in.

Setup and First Impressions

Unboxing the Z43Q, you get a sense that CP Plus has thought through the basics. The camera is lightweight but solid, with a rugged feel that inspires confidence when you're mounting it outdoors. It comes with screws, anchors, and a compact 5V/1A adapter, which is handy if you ever want to run it from a USB source or even a power bank during setup.

Mounting it on a wall won't take more than 15 to 20 minutes, and once powered up, the twin antennas immediately stood out, they're not just for show. During testing, the Wi-Fi range held up well across an average two-bedroom home setup. The initial configuration through the EzyCam+ app was smooth, and within minutes, the camera feed popped up on-screen.

Daytime Performance

In daylight, the Z43Q's 4 MP sensor genuinely impresses. The image feed is crisp, colours look natural, and zooming in reveals decent detail on faces, number plates, and even textures like wall paint or foliage. When testing across a garden space and driveway, clarity held steady.

However, in certain bright conditions, especially when the sun hits reflective surfaces, you might notice faint violet fringes along object edges. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's noticeable if you're a stickler for detail. Overall, though, for an entry-mid camera, the day performance punches higher than expected.

Night Vision That Actually Works

The highlight feature for me was the full-colour night vision. Unlike many budget cameras that switch to black-and-white IR mode after dark, the Z43Q uses built-in white LEDs that illuminate the scene in colour when motion is detected.

Testing it in a dim outdoor area, the colour feed remained surprisingly clear up to about 8-10 metres. Beyond that, the standard infrared (IR) mode takes over, extending visibility to roughly 15 metres. It's reassuring to see realistic colours on screen at night, it helps identify clothing, vehicles, or even pets much better than grayscale IR footage.

Smart Features and App Experience

The EzyCam+ app offers most of what you'd expect in a modern home-security setup. Live view, pan and tilt controls, screenshot and recording options, and playback in different speeds all worked seamlessly. The motion detection and sound alerts were responsive and not overly sensitive, which helps avoid constant pings for harmless movement like swaying leaves.

You can also set a privacy mode, which physically pauses camera activity, great for when you're at home and don't want to be watched. Integration with Alexa and Google Home adds a nice smart-home touch, though it's more of a convenience feature than a must-have.

That said, the experience does hinge heavily on your Wi-Fi quality. In one test, when the camera was set up about 30 metres from the router with two walls in between, the connection dropped intermittently. Bringing it closer solved the issue. So, if you're planning an outdoor mount, consider either a strong router or a LAN connection to make the most of it.

Motion Tracking and Audio

One of the camera's pleasant surprises is how well it handles motion tracking. During tests, the camera automatically followed a person moving across the frame and then returned to its default position after about a minute, smooth and precise for this price range.

The two-way talk feature is also practical. Voices come through clearly on both ends, with minimal lag. It's loud enough to use as a deterrent or to communicate casually with someone at your gate.

While I wasn't able to mount the camera on the wall, I did have it set up in my living room at night, and it was safe to say that motion tracking accurately captured my parents moving to and from the bathroom. The IP65 rating gives peace of mind but make sure to mount it under a shade if possible.

Who It's Best For

This camera is ideal for:

  • Homeowners or small businesses looking for an affordable yet versatile security solution.
  • Users with good 2.4GHz Wi-Fi coverage or access to LAN cabling.
  • Those who prefer local SD card storage and occasional app-based access rather than constant cloud reliance.
  • If your expectations are realistic, decent clarity, solid smart features, and dependable connectivity within range, the Z43Q won't disappoint.

Where It Falls Short

  • The 2.4GHz-only Wi-Fi support can be restrictive for modern dual-band networks.
  • Occasional colour fringing in high-contrast scenes.
  • Cloud storage comes at an extra cost (though the SD card option is fine for most users).
  • Some users online have reported long-term pan/tilt reliability issues; something to watch out for.

Verdict

CP Plus ezyKam+ (Z43Q) Review

After testing out the CP Plus ezyKam+ (Z43Q) for a while, I'd call it a genuinely dependable outdoor companion. The 4 MP sensor, full-colour night vision, and smart detection features deliver far more than what its price tag suggests.

It's not flawless, Wi-Fi limitations and occasional quirks in image processing exist, but if you're setting up a smart security system for your home or small office without splurging, this one's easy to recommend. With careful placement and setup, the Z43Q will keep a clear, colourful eye on your property day and night.
