Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Getting the Basics Right Is Its Biggest Competitive Advantage

I have tested plenty of gaming headsets over the years, and one thing I have learned is that a good gaming headset does not necessarily need to sound spectacular. It needs to do the right things at the right time. Footsteps need to be easy to locate, gunfire should not drown out smaller audio cues, the microphone should be usable, and most importantly, there should not be noticeable latency.

That is essentially the brief behind the Noise Clutch HP-P01. It is the first gaming headset from Noise's Clutch gaming sub-brand, and at Rs 4,999, it is aimed at gamers who want wireless convenience without spending Rs 10,000 or more.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Better for Gaming Than Its Price Suggests

I spent three weeks using the Clutch HP-P01 with my PC and PlayStation 5, playing everything from competitive multiplayer titles such as Call of Duty and Marvel Rivals to single-player games including DOOM: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5, and here are my thoughts.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Specifications: What you Get

The Noise Clutch HP-P01 uses 50mm drivers and supports 7.1 virtual surround sound. For low-latency gaming, it connects through a 2.4GHz USB dongle, with Noise claiming 24ms latency. It also supports Bluetooth for mobile or casual use, 3.5mm wired audio for broader compatibility, and USB Type-C connectivity for PC and handheld devices.

Gizbot Rating

The Noise Clutch HP-P01 is a Rs 4,999 wireless gaming headset that surprised us with its low-latency performance, clear positional audio and comfortable fit. Tested across Call of Duty, Marvel Rivals, DOOM: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5, it gets the gaming essentials right, though music quality and virtual surround sound leave room for improvement.

Pros

  • Surprisingly good positional audio for competitive gaming

  • Low-latency 2.4GHz wireless connectivity

  • Comfortable for extended gaming sessions

  • Detachable microphone with good voice clarity

  • Multiple connectivity options

  • Solid battery life

Cons

  • Average music playback and instrument separation

  • 7.1 virtual surround mode is underwhelming

  • No companion app or advanced EQ customisation

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Two-Minute Review

The Noise Clutch HP-P01 surprised me with how well it handles the basics of gaming. Priced at Rs 4,999, this wireless gaming headset offers 2.4GHz connectivity with a claimed 24ms latency, Bluetooth and wired options, making it versatile enough for PC and PlayStation 5 gaming.

I tested it across competitive titles such as Call of Duty and Marvel Rivals, alongside single-player games including DOOM: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5. Positional audio is a highlight, with footsteps and important in-game cues coming through clearly. The 50mm drivers deliver satisfying impact during intense combat, while the detachable boom microphone works well for in-game communication and Discord calls.

Comfort is another plus. Despite weighing 300g, the headset remains comfortable during extended gaming sessions. Battery life reached around 14-16 hours with RGB lighting enabled, while turning the lights off should help extend usage.

However, music playback is less impressive, with limited instrument separation. The 7.1 virtual surround mode also felt less convincing than the standard audio profile. The absence of companion app support further limits audio customisation.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Design and Build

Rating: 4.5 / 5

The Clutch HP-P01 looks more interesting than I expected from a sub-Rs 5,000 gaming headset.

The grey and green finish gives it a distinct identity without going too far with the gamer aesthetic. There is RGB lighting around the earcups, although I eventually switched it off most of the time.

Build quality is appropriate for the price. It does not feel premium, but the reinforced metal frame gives it enough rigidity and confidence for regular use. The buttons also have a firm, clicky feel.

Comfort is one of the headset's strongest points. At 300g, it is not particularly light, but the weight is distributed well. The earcups sit comfortably without excessive clamping, while the headband has enough cushioning for longer sessions.

I regularly used it for six to eight hours with breaks, and it never became uncomfortable enough that I wanted to take it off.
For a gaming headset, that matters more to me than RGB lighting.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Features

Rating: 4 / 5

The first thing I noticed about the HP-P01 was how quickly the 2.4GHz wireless connection worked.
On PC, I could plug in the dongle, switch on the headset and start playing almost immediately. Switching to the PS5 was equally straightforward.

More importantly, I did not notice any distracting audio delay during testing.

This became particularly obvious in Call of Duty. Competitive shooters are where latency can actually affect the experience. When I hear footsteps approaching or someone fires from around a corner, I want the audio to correspond with what is happening on screen.

The HP-P01 never gave me the impression that the audio was trailing behind the action.

I also spent considerable time with Marvel Rivals, which can become chaotic very quickly. Character abilities, explosions, voice lines and environmental sounds are constantly competing for attention. The HP-P01 managed to maintain enough separation for me to understand where important sounds were coming from.

The connection remained stable within roughly 15 to 18 metres in my testing.

Bluetooth is useful for casual listening and mobile gaming, while wired connectivity adds another layer of flexibility. Dual Bluetooth pairing is also supported.
The biggest omission is app support. The headset does not connect to the Noise mobile app, so there is no detailed EQ customisation or advanced audio profiles.

In-Game Experience

This is where the HP-P01 makes the most sense.

The headset is clearly tuned with gaming in mind rather than neutral audio. In Call of Duty, footsteps were easy enough to pick out, while gunfire and explosions retained enough impact without completely drowning quieter cues.

In Marvel Rivals, positional audio was similarly useful. With several characters using abilities at once, the HP-P01 helped me distinguish different sounds rather than turning everything into one large wall of noise.

It was also interesting to use the headset with DOOM: The Dark Ages.

DOOM is less about carefully listening for footsteps and more about impact. Weapons, explosions, enemy attacks and the soundtrack need to sound aggressive. The 50mm drivers provide enough punch to make combat satisfying, while the headset remains reasonably controlled when the action gets chaotic.

Forza Horizon 5 highlighted a different side of the headset. Engine sounds, tyre noise and environmental effects were clear enough, but the HP-P01 does not have the depth or refinement of a more expensive audio-focused headset.

For gaming, though, I rarely felt I was missing anything important.

7.1 Surround Sound is not Essential

The HP-P01 supports 7.1 virtual surround sound, but this is one feature I did not use very often.

It can make the soundstage feel wider, but I generally preferred the standard audio profile. In some situations, the virtual surround effect actually made sounds feel less precise.

For competitive games, I would rather have clean stereo positioning than an artificial surround effect.

So while 7.1 is a nice addition at this price, I would not buy the HP-P01 specifically for it.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Call Quality

The detachable cardioid boom microphone is another strong point.

I used it for Discord and in-game voice chat, and voice clarity was good enough for normal gaming communication. It is obviously not a replacement for a dedicated USB microphone, but it does what it needs to do.

The detachable design is also useful when I am using the headset for videos or music.
The physical mute button is another small but welcome touch. I could mute myself instantly without opening software or reaching for the keyboard.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Battery Life

Rating: 4 / 5

Noise claims up to 40 hours with RGB switched off and up to 20 hours with RGB enabled, both at 50 percent volume.

Real-world performance is lower, particularly with RGB enabled and the volume turned up.

With RGB on and volume generally between 60 and 70 percent, I managed around 14 to 16 hours of continuous use. That is still enough for several long gaming sessions.

Turning RGB off should get you considerably closer to Noise's claimed figure.
Charging takes around two to three hours over USB Type-C. Overall, battery performance feels perfectly reasonable for the price.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Sound Quality

Rating: 3 / 5

After spending so much time gaming with the HP-P01, I also used it for Spotify, YouTube and movies.

This is where its gaming-first tuning becomes obvious.

Music sounds perfectly acceptable, but instrument separation is limited and tracks with several layers can sound crowded. The headset does not offer the refinement I would expect from headphones designed primarily for music.

Movies and YouTube are better. Dialogue is clear and the overall presentation is enjoyable enough for casual viewing. But if music is your primary use case, I would look elsewhere.

Noise Clutch HP-P01 Review: Verdict

After nearly two weeks with the Noise Clutch HP-P01, my biggest takeaway is that Noise has understood what matters in a budget wireless gaming headset.

It is not the best headset for music, the materials do not feel premium, there is no companion app for deeper customisation, and I rarely found a reason to use the 7.1 surround mode.

But those are not the reasons I would buy it.

I would buy it because I can plug the dongle into my PC or PS5, switch on the headset and start playing almost instantly. I can jump into Call of Duty and hear approaching footsteps clearly, play Marvel Rivals without the audio becoming a mess, enjoy the heavy combat sounds of DOOM: The Dark Ages, or spend an evening driving around Forza Horizon 5 without worrying about cables.

At Rs 4,999, the Noise Clutch HP-P01 is a strong first product from the Clutch gaming sub-brand. It delivers the features I actually care about while keeping the price below Rs 5,000.

If you are primarily a PC or console gamer looking for a comfortable wireless headset for multiplayer gaming, the HP-P01 deserves a place on your shortlist.
