Qubo Q400 Review: A Quiet, Effective Air Purifier That Anyone Can Afford
Air purifiers have quietly become essential for Indian homes, especially in cities with almost unbreathable air like Delhi and around. Or if you live in places where dust, humidity, and indoor pollution fluctuate throughout the day. The Qubo Q400 sits in the affordable segment at ₹8,988 and manages everyday air quality without trying to do too much.
I've been using it for a month, and this time, I paired it with my Dyson Hot + Cool to see how it compares in real-world performance.

Design and Setup: Lightweight, Simple, and Practical
Setting up the Q400 is the kind of plug-and-play experience I wish more home appliances offered. Unbox, remove filter seals, plug it in, pair it with the app - the entire process took me barely ten minutes.
It's also extremely lightweight, to the point where carrying it from the bedroom to the study takes zero effort. This is genuinely helpful because most people won't buy multiple purifiers for their home, and portability becomes part of the experience. That said, the Q400 performs best in small to medium-sized rooms; anything larger and you start noticing capacity limitations.

Design-wise, it's minimal, functional, and easy to understand. No frills, no unnecessary layers of menus. You can say it's a purifier meant to run, not to be stared at.
Performance: Surprising Results, Even Against a Dyson
This is where the Qubo Q400 genuinely surprised me for the price it comes at.
I ran it simultaneously with my Dyson Hot + Cool, mainly to compare sensor responsiveness and real-time adjustments. During cooking - parathas in the kitchen, away from my bedroom - the Qubo caught the smoke spike faster and ramped up fan speed almost instantly. The Dyson eventually reacted, but it felt like it was playing catch-up. The Qubo, surprisingly, was the more alert purifier in this scenario, showing how good the sensors are.

Across the month, the purifier's behaviour remained consistent. Dust settled slower, the room felt lighter after 15-20 minutes of running in Auto mode, and the purifier reacted quickly whenever windows were opened or sweeping kicked up particulates.
Night usage is another win. The Sleep mode is genuinely quiet, and after the first few nights, I forgot it was running.
Odour management is not that noticeable - it won't erase heavy cooking or cigarette smells, but it improves stale air and minor odours well enough for daily use.

Smart Features and App: Useful, Not Overdone
Pairing the app was seamless, and the interface is surprisingly intuitive for a budget purifier. Controls are clean, you get a quick view of AQI, modes are easy to switch between, and scheduling works smoothly.
My only real complaint is the lack of a numeric AQI display on the device itself. Instead, you get a colour indicator in Red, Yellow, Green which tells you the broad status but not the exact PM2.5 value. So, every time you want the actual number, you have to pull out your phone. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's a noticeable miss.

On the bright side, the Intelligent Mode is reliably accurate. It turns on automatically when pollution rises, and in my testing, it never behaved erratically or overreacted like some budget purifiers do. Button response, build quality, and touch feedback are all solid for the price.
Daily Use and Energy
The Q400 is designed for prolonged use - low power consumption, simple maintenance, and quiet operation make it suitable for 24×7 running. Cleaning the pre-filter every couple of weeks keeps performance steady, and I didn't notice any drop in efficiency after one month of continuous usage.

Again, it's worth repeating: the purifier is best suited for bedrooms and small living spaces. In open layouts, the airflow simply isn't strong enough to maintain uniform purification.
Verdict: A Surprisingly Competent Budget Purifier
The Qubo Q400 does more than expected for its price. It reduced dust, maintained air consistency, responded quickly to spikes, and remained quiet enough for uninterrupted sleep. The fact that it outperformed my Dyson in sensing and reacting during real-world cooking scenarios says a lot about the strength of its sensors.

Yes, it misses a numeric AQI display, and no, it's not built for large rooms. But as an affordable, everyday purifier for city homes - it delivers exactly where it needs to.
