MWC 2014: Samsung Gear Fit Redefines Fitness Band Category with Super Amoled Curved Display

After a very long wait, today the South Korean tech giant has finally launched the most awaited Galaxy S5 smartphone at the company's Unpacked 2014 event on the Mobile World Congress floors.

The smartphone which features a 5.1 inch full HD super AMOLED display and a fingerprint sensor is not the only one device, which made the Samsung fans super excited but at the same time the company's first unique Gear Fit wearable device also got announced.

Samsung's latest Gear Fit, the industry's first curved, Super AMOLED wearable device for the active consumer offers a convenience of Samsung Gear technology with the most comprehensive fitness tools available, empowering consumers stay physically active without sacrificing personal style or mobile connectivity.

The Samsung Gear Fit was designed to comfortably contour to consumers' wrists while offering a vivid Super AMOLED display. It provides instant notifications from Galaxy smartphones such as incoming calls, emails, SMS, alarm, S-planner, 3rd party apps while consumers are on the move so they can stay connected. Also to keep up with the day to day fashion, changeable straps in Black, Orange and Mocha Grey will also be available.

The sleek new Samsung Gear Fit as the name suggests also provides custom, real time fitness coaching to provide unique, personalized advice and workout recommendations. The Gear Fit will be available globally starting from April. However, the company has not disclosed the pricing on the device as of now.

The Galaxy Gear Fit comes with a 1.84 inches Curved Super AMOLED with a resolution of 432x128pixels. Moreover, the device which measures 23.4 x 57.4 x 11.95 mm and weighs 27g comes with IP67 Dust and Water Resistant build as well.

The device will let you see the smartphone's Notifications (SNS, Call, E-mail, Apps), Schedule, Smart Relay and Media Controller. The Galaxy Gear Fit comes with a Bluetooth v4.0 LE connectivity option.

Samsung Gear Fit straps will be changeable and the fitness band will be compatible with 20 Galaxy devices. Further, it will be launched in 150 countries on April 11.

When it comes to the fitness features, the latest wearable device comes with a Pedometer, Exercise, Sleep, Stopwatch, Timer and also uses Accelerometer, Gyro, SHealth and Heart Rate sensors.

The Galaxy Gear Fit comes with a standard 210mAh battery with a typical usage of 3 to 4 days. While if one uses it less, the cell would hold up to 5 days.
