Samsung Simband First Look: Functions and Key Features

The Simband's home screen displays the time, date and shortcuts. However, they are associated to the device's three main functions: trends, monitor and spot check. Digging in deep, while trends is the dashboard that displays your data placed over time, monitor is a real-time tracking mode that's enabled when all of the band's sensors are activated.

The spot check, on the other hand, allows you a quick glance at your heart rate and blood pressure. For example, the Simband does more than just calculating simple steps and miles owing to its multimodal sensors offered for optical, electrical and physical methods of collecting real-time health data.

When you put the device into monitor mode, it activates all that six sensors of the Simband and displays a real-time feed of all the stats being collected. Spot check, on the other hand, requires you to press on the Simband's clasp and hold it for 20 seconds.

After 20 seconds, the overall check is complete while the data heads over to the trends dashboard. There you can see how your most recent check compares with your previous stats. But the information can also be tracked on the web when the device has synced over wifi.

Samsung Simband First Look: Early Verdict

The Samsung-made Simband is still far away from going commercial. In fact, realistically speaking, we aren't even expecting it before late next year. But what we have seen from the product so far, tells us a lot about how the future of the industry is shaping up.

The wearable market is anyway in its nascent stages still, and it will take some time before we finally see any major ground-breaking innovation from that sector. However, the way the new Simband has come up in the modern day context, it won't be long before it becomes a new standard in world medical research. We have our fingers crossed!
