Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch is all set to be launched on Spetember 4th at IFA Berlin. Consequently, the Internet is swarming with these leaked images of the device which come from VentureBeat. After checking these pictures out, we're not impressed with Samsung's latest product. If this is Samsung's weapon in the upcoming Smart Watch Wars, then the odds look terrible for the South Korean Electronics giant.

Let's run through some of the main features of the device. At about 3-inches diagonally, the watch's screen is rather large. With a steel bezel on the screen, the watch is colored black and grey. There's a big, clunky wrist band with a 4-megapixel camera built into the strap, and tiny speakers in the clasp. Apart from this, there's blue-tooth for connectivity to your smartphone. You can use the phone to make calls, read texts and even emails. Calls logs are stored on the watch and it even has a neat little gallery to view pictures. There's Samsung S for voice commands and the phone comes preloaded with a host of apps for social media, health tracking, etc.

Galaxy Gear vs Pebbl: Who Will Win?

Here's the bad news, the smartwatch only has a 10 hours of battery life. This is rather upsetting when compared to Sony's smartwatch, which lasts for 3-4 days and then the Pebble smartwatch, which runs for up to 7 days on a single charge thanks to its e-paper screen. And even though nothing has been said about the matter, there's a good chance that Samsung's watch might only work with its own phones. On the other hand, Pebble works on iPhones and Android phones as well, making it far more versatile than the competition.

Also, it worth noting that Pebble has a huge fan base of users who love the device's brilliant features, durable design, customized apps and watch faces and flexibility. The watch was backed by a Kickstarter program that went on to raise over $10 million. The company has now confirmed that it has 190,000 pre-orders.
