On each passing day, the tech world is witnessing a lot of product launches right from smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks to media players and headsets. Though the tech enthusiasts will keep themselves updated with what is happening in the tech world instantly, Gizbot has a tradition of offering a weekend update on the list of smartphones and tablets that are launched over the week for those who have missed some event.

In the second week of December, there were very few launches, but, some of them are highly worthy as they have been eagerly awaited by the consumers all over the global market. And, of course, there are some silent launches that have still not been announced in India.

Below is the list of smartphones and tablets that have been launched this week. Have a look at it to update yourself on the price and specs of the latest market entrants.

HTC Butterfly

HTC has unveiled the much awaited global version of Droid DNA and J Butterfly for the global market with the name Butterfly boasting a 5 inch LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS topped with HTC Sense 4+ UI, 8MP rear camera with BSI sensor, 2.1MP front camera for video calling, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

Further, the handset comes packed with connectivity features including HDMI out, micro-USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a 2,020mAh battery of undisclosed backup.

As of now, there is no word on the pricing and availability of the handset in India, but tech experts predict that it will make its way into the market early next year.

HTC has quietly launched One SV, a mid-range Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone with impressive specifications including NFC chip, 4G LTE in selected regions and more at a special event in London on Wednesday.

As far as the specs are concerned, One SV comes with a 4.3 inch Super LCD 2 capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz dual core S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, which can be expanded to 32GB via micro SD card slot, 5MP rear camera, 1.6MP front camera, NFC, 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 1,080 mAh battery.

As claimed by the company, One SV will support integration to cloud storage services including SkyDrive and Dropbox. Further, similar to the other HTC smartphones, One SV also comes with Beats Audio integration and some advanced features such as VideoPic and BSI sensors for better low light photography.

As of now, One SV will arrive in UK at first and will be offered by operator EE in the coming weeks, however, there is no official word on the price of the handset. According to Clove's (UK) listing, the phone is priced at £350 (approx. Rs 30,000) without contract. However, analysts assume that the handset will be priced at Rs 25,000 approximately.

After the launch of Iris N350 and Iris N320 based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, India based manufacturer, Lava has come up with Iris N400, a dual SIM smartphone flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at Rs 6,399.

Speaking of specs, Iris N400 packs a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 1GHz processor, Android 4.0 ICS operating system, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera for video calling, 127MB onboard storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, micro USB 2.0, Wi-Fi features, 3G, Bluetooth and a 1,500 mAh Li-ion battery.

Following Lava Xolo A700, the company has launched Xolo A800 featuring a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, VGA front facing camera for video chatting, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and expandable memory option up to 32GB via microSD card.

Further, the handset comes packed with connectivity features including 3G HSPA 7.2Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1, aGPS and micro USB 2.0 and is loaded with a 1,600 mAh battery and is priced at Rs 11,999.

As far as specifications are concerned, Karbonn A30 phablet has a 5.9 inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 1GHz processor, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, dual sim support, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and a 2,500 mAh battery.

With dual SIM support and Android 4.0 ICS, the Karbonn phablet could be a classified as a rival to the other products including the ones mentioned in the next slides. However, it is priced at Rs 10,990 on Saholic and is awaiting its official release.

May be the device could retail for the same specs and price, but there is no confirmation on the same from Karbonn Mobiles.

Micromax has launched Smarty A68 boasting a 4 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1GHz processor, Android 4.0.4 ICS operating system, 5MP rear camera, 2GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

In terms of data connectivity, the handset has features including Wi-Fi, 2G, GPRS and Bluetooth. Battery: Smarty A68 is powered by a 1,600 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 5 hours talktime and 144 hours standby.

Karbonn Smart Tab 7 Tornado

Following Smart Tab 3 Blade and Smart Tab 9 Marvel, Karbonn has now come up with another 7 inch tablet dubbed Smart Tab 7 Tornado. While Karbonn is yet to officially announce the launch of the device, Saholic, an online retailer site has listed the tablet on its site for Rs 5,499.

According to the listing, Smart Tab 7 has a 7 inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz single core processor, micro SD card slot for additional storage support up to 32GB, Android 4.0 ICS operating system, 2MP front camera for video calling, built-in Wi-Fi, USB port, external 3G support and a 3,700 mAh battery delivering 8 hours video playback, 7 hours Wi-Fi browsing and 25 hours music playback.

As of now, Smart Tab 7 Tornado is available for purchase from Saholic at Rs 5,499.

EAFT Technologies, a Bangalore based company has announced the launch of two new tablets in its Destiny lineup - D90T and D70P. As claimed by the company both the tablets have IPS display and are based on Android 4.0 ICS operating system.

As far as the specifications are concerned, D90T has a 9.7 inch HD 10 point multi-touch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, 1.6GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, Mali 400 GPU, 1GB RAM, 2MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Android 4.0.4 ICS platform, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB with OTG, 3G via dongle, HDMI port and an 8,000 mAh battery.

Speaking of D70P, the tablet boasts a 7 inch HD IPS 5 point multi-touch capacitive touchscreen displat with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, Mali 400 GPU, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB, 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB + OTG, in built 3G with a SIM card slot and a 4,000 mAh battery.

D90T and D70P are priced at Rs 16,990 a and 12,990 respectively making them good offerings in the entry-level tablet market segment in India.

The latest offering from iBall - iSlide i6516 sports a 7 inch IPS HD capacitive touchscreen display with better viewing angles, 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 1GB RAM, Android ICS, 2MP rear camera, front facing VGA camera for video calling, Wi-Fi, micro USB port, HDMI port, Bluetooth and a 4,000 mAh battery capable of offering a decent backup.

Moreover, iBall iSlide i6516 comes with preloaded apps including Whatsapp, Facebook, Zomato and CricketNext. The new tablet is priced at Rs 7,990 making it competitive and reasonable with all the necessary basic functions for such a low price point.
