This year's IFA 2014 promises to be largest and, of course, more glamorous than ever. IFA, as we know, has always been Europe's answer to CES.
The IFA 2014 starts early this week, Sept. 5 to Sept. 10, with press briefings kicking off stating Wednesday Sept. 3 and Thursday Sept. 4.Samsung, Lenovo, Sony, LG, Asus among others will showcase their latest devices at Europe's biggest tech carnival.
Sony's press conference is scheduled for Sept.3 in Berlin. The Xperia Z3 will be the star of Sony's planned event, but the company is likely to showcase new wearable tech devices and some tablet models.
It's pretty much confirmed that Sony will confirm the SmartWatch 3 alongside the second-generation fitness band to take on the likes of Samsung, Asus and LG. We're still hearing rumors of another smartwatch- running on the latest Android Wear platform, however, a circular intelligent watch seem a gimmick.
For beginners, Sony could unveil two tablet devices- both running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Interestingly, the 8-inch model appears to be an eye-candy, based on rumors and speculations all over the web.
Here's what Sony will launch at IFA 2014. Dive in!
The legitimate successor to the Xperia Z2 is expected to come with improved processor, better imaging optics and a slightly different design. If rumors have anything to say, the new flagship handset might come with a large 6.4-inch display, instead of a 5.2-inch screen. Here are those leaked spec sheet: 6.4-inch 1080 display, 2.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 20.7MP rear-facing camera.
Sony loves to produce compact versions of its big-ticket handsets. This year is no different. While the arrival of the Xperia Z3 Compact is pretty much confirmed, what's under the hood is still a mystery. It is learnt that the device might come stuffed with a solid looking design, with a 20.7MP rear-facing camera. Set to launch in Berlin, the forthcoming smartphone will compete against the likes of Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and HTC One Mini 2.
These days users are not enthusiast about tablets any more. However, we do anticipate seeing the arrival of the Tablet Z3 Compact. Yes, the compact version of the upcoming Tablet Z3 might get official this week in Berlin. As speculated, the device will come with an 8-inch display. Reports in the past have stated that the Tablet Z3 Compact could flaunt a waterproof and dustproof design. Other rumored specs include: a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 16GB/32GB of native storage, an 8MP of rear-facing camera, 3GB of RAM and a massive battery inside. The tablet should be seen competing with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S.
Not just the Tablet Z3 Compact, Sony is also going to unveil a 10.1-inch tablet device, with more advance specs. The tablet in question, Xperia Tablet Z3, will have a 10.1-inch 2K display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, LTE and more. Sony hasn't really captured the tablet market, but the upcoming monster slate from Sony could change everything.
Sony is a known player in the wearable tech business. After the success of the Smartwatch 2, the PlayStation 4 is all set to announce its latest sensation intelligent watch, dubbed as SmartWatch 3. Not much is known about the wearable device, but it might feature an all new design. The device is tipped to feature a square shape OLED display. Furthermore, it is speculated to run on a customized version of Android, rather than the latest Android Wear. Also, the watch is rumored to come with Wi-Fi connectivity as well.
Along with the SmartWatch 3, we may get to see the second generation of SmartBand that was introduced last year. It is said that the new fitness band will feature Bluetooth connectivity and a curved e-ink display. No more details are available at this moment.
