From Game Of The Year To Esports, Here’s Every Winner At The Game Awards 2025

The Game Awards always try to be a celebration of everything that happened in gaming over the year. Some years feel scattered. This one felt more focused. Once the ceremony ended, it was clear which game people would be talking about the next day, even without the noise of big reveals and dramatic speeches.

At the same time, the winners list said a lot about what players and juries valued this year, and what still hasn’t changed.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Had A Strong Night

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ended up being the most awarded game of the show. It won Game of the Year, along with Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Score and Music.

It also picked up Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game, which isn’t something you see often on this stage. Jennifer English won Best Performance for her role in the game, adding another win to an already long list.

What stood out wasn’t just the number of awards, but the range. It did well across creative, technical, and performance categories, which usually points to a game that landed consistently rather than excelling in just one area.

Big Studios Still Took Home Key Wins

The night wasn’t all about one game.

Hades II won Best Action Game, continuing a familiar pattern for Supergiant’s work. Hollow Knight: Silksong won Best Action Adventure Game, which felt like a payoff for years of anticipation rather than a surprise.

On the multiplayer side, Arc Raiders won Best Multiplayer, while Battlefield 6 picked up Best Audio Design. Both wins suggest there’s still room for large-scale shooters when they focus on execution instead of novelty.

For racing and sports, Mario Kart World won Best Sports and Racing Game, beating out titles that lean more heavily on realism.

Long-Running Games Weren’t Ignored

Live service and ongoing games had a noticeable presence this year.

No Man’s Sky won Best Ongoing Game, reinforcing how much sustained updates and long-term support still matter. Baldur’s Gate 3 took Best Community Support, which reflected how actively the developers stayed involved with players even after launch.

These categories continue to highlight that a game’s life after release is just as important as how it launches.

Esports, Mobile, And VR Stayed Predictable

The esports awards followed expectations. Counter-Strike 2 won Best Esports Game, Chovy was named Best Esports Athlete, and Team Vitality took Best Esports Team.

On mobile, Umamusume: Pretty Derby won Best Mobile Game. VR and AR had their moment too, with The Midnight Walk winning Best VR and AR Game.

The Player’s Voice award went to Wuthering Waves, which lined up closely with what players were already engaging with throughout the year.

GTA 6 Remains The Big Question Mark

The Most Anticipated Game award went to Grand Theft Auto VI. That result didn’t change much, but it reinforced how much attention the game still commands, even with limited updates.
