Activision Says GTA 6 Will Drive More Players to COD Modern Warfare 4, Here Is Why
Think about all the major games launching in November this year. Apart from GTA 6, we doubt there is any other name that comes to your mind. And that’s not a co-incidence. Major games like Fable and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis have reportedly shifted their launch dates to avoid a clash with GTA 6. But, Activision’s Chief Marketing Officer Tyler Bahl has a different opinion.

Why Activision Thinks GTA 6 Will Help Call of Duty
In an interview with The Game Business, Activision chief marketing officer Tyler Bahl said the launch of GTA 6 could benefit the wider gaming industry. He expects the game to encourage more people to switch on their PlayStation and Xbox consoles again, potentially bringing more players to Call of Duty as well.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 begins its campaign early access on October 16.
Bahl also pointed to the social side of Call of Duty as one of its biggest strengths. According to Bahl, players often value being able to spend time with their friends in the game as much as its combat and gunplay. The ability to play with friends across different platforms, including PC, Xbox and PlayStation, is another factor that could help the franchise retain players.
He said, “At the end of the day, what makes Call of Duty last the test of time is the community and social experience. The idea of being able to play with your friends. When we look at our research and say, 'What are the most exciting things about our games? Is it the combat or the gunplay?’ It’s actually, 'My friends were there. Or, 'I’m able to spend time with my friends.’ We stand on our own there, where being able to play with your friends on all different platforms, from Switch 2 this year — which is a new platform for us — all the way to PC and Xbox and PlayStation still, I think makes it a unique opportunity.”
He then added that more conversations and media coverage around video games could benefit the entire industry, rather than just one title.
