Assassin’s Creed Shadows Arrives November 15: Features Dual Protagonists in Feudal Japan Setting
Ubisoft has finally unveiled Assassin's Creed Shadows, the next major entry in the beloved franchise, transporting players to the fascinating and tumultuous era of feudal Japan.
Two Warriors, One Destiny
Assassin's Creed Shadows breaks the mold by offering not one, but two playable characters: Naoe, a cunning and agile shinobi, and Yasuke, a powerful and imposing samurai. The trailer hints at their destinies intertwining amidst the chaos of a Japan striving for unification.

Naoe caters to fans who crave the classic Assassin's Creed experience. She specializes in the art of stealth, utilizing her skills to navigate the shadows, infiltrate enemy strongholds, and strike with deadly precision. Yasuke, on the other hand, offers a thrillingly different gameplay style.
Inspired by his real-life historical counterpart, Yasuke excels in open combat, wielding his katana with ferocious skill to cut down foes in a flurry of steel. This dual protagonist system promises a rich tapestry of gameplay options, allowing players to choose between stealthy maneuvers or head-on confrontations.
A Living, Breathing Feudal Japan
Ubisoft has crafted a sprawling open world that captures the essence of feudal Japan. Explore bustling port cities teeming with life, serene villages nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, and dense, unforgiving forests that conceal secrets and dangers. The world itself is dynamic, with weather and seasons impacting gameplay. A sudden downpour could create opportunities for a stealthy shinobi like Naoe, while a snowstorm might force Yasuke to rely on his raw strength to overcome the elements.
But the world isn't just a backdrop. Players will have the chance to build a network of informants, forge alliances with powerful figures, and customize their own hidden base of operations. This level of player agency promises a deeper sense of immersion in the world of Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Beyond the Shadows
Assassin's Creed Shadows is just the tip of the iceberg for the Assassin's Creed franchise. Ubisoft has a plethora of other projects in the pipeline, including Assassin's Creed Jade, a mobile game set in ancient China, and the enigmatic Assassin's Creed Codename: Hexe, which promises to be a significant departure from the series' core gameplay. Additionally, Assassin's Creed Infinity, described as a central hub for future Assassin's Creed experiences, is also on the horizon.
Availability
Assassin's Creed Shadows launches for PC (Mac and Windows), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna on November 15.
