Asus ROG Ally Handheld Gaming Console Launched
Asus has launched its very first handheld gaming console, styled upon the Steam Deck, but promising far more in terms of performance and features. Called the Asus ROG Ally, the gaming handheld was introduced in global markets, but will soon make its way to India. The console is able to run more or less all PC games at decent graphics, offering a way to enjoy high-intensity gaming on the go.
The ROG Ally packs a AMD Z-series processor coupled with 16GB RAM and a Full HD display with 120Hz refresh rate, and runs Windows 11 out of the box. Let's take a look at the specifications of the console.
Asus ROG Ally: Features and Specifications
The Asus ROG Ally sports a 7-inch IPS Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, with 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness. The panel supports Dolby Vision and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The I/O includes buttons on either side of the display for controls. There are a total of three joysticks and four ABXY buttons along with triggers on the shoulders and at the back. There's also dual speakers with Asus Smart Amplifier technology.
Under the hood, the ROG Ally features the AMD Ryzen Z1 series processor. There are two variants, one with the Ryzen Z1 processor with 2.8 Teraflops per second, while a more powerful variant runs the Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor with 8.6 Teraflops performance. Both variants come with the AMD Radeon Navi3 graphics with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage.
The handheld console runs on Windwos 11 and features the Asus Armoury Crate gaming menu. It comes with three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate along with access to the Steam, EA, Epic Games libraries.
The ROG Ally features a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C port and an interface for the ROG XG Mobile discrete GPU. Yes, you can pair up to a NVIDIA RTX 4090 with the Ally to take gaming to the next level. Sadly, it won't remain as portable with that setup.
The ROG Ally features a 40Whr battery with 65W fast charging support. The console weighs around 608 grams.
Asus ROG Ally: Price and Availability
The base variant of the ROG Ally is priced at $599 (roughly Rs 49,000) while the Extreme variant is priced at $699 (roughly Rs 57,000). The console has been released in global markets, but company executives have confirmed the console will be available to purchase in India at a later date.
