BGMI LITE Pre-Registration Opens August 25: Everything Indian Gamers Need to Know

BGMI LITE is finally getting a launch window, and it starts sooner than most expected. KRAFTON India announced today that pre-registration for BGMI LITE will open on Google Play on August 25, 2026, with the game itself scheduled to arrive in India before the end of the year.

The game comes in at around 1GB for the initial download, which positions it squarely at players on mid and entry-level Android devices who have found the main BGMI too heavy to run comfortably.

No account transfer, no hassle

If you have been playing BGMI and were worried about switching, KRAFTON says there is no account transfer required. You can pre-register, wait for launch, and jump straight in without touching your existing BGMI account.

iOS users will have to wait a little longer. KRAFTON has not given a date for pre-registration on Apple's platform and says those details will come later. For now, the August 25 window applies only to Android. The company has been pointing fans to BGMI LITE's official Instagram page for ongoing updates ahead of the full launch.

Why BGMI LITE matters

BGMI, the India-specific version of PUBG Mobile, has crossed 260 million downloads since its launch, making it one of the biggest mobile games in the country. A LITE version has been a long-standing demand from the community, particularly from players in smaller cities and towns where high-end smartphones are not the norm. Lower file size, lighter hardware requirements, and the same BGMI DNA is exactly what a large chunk of that 260 million player base has been asking for.

KRAFTON India has separately invested over 250 million dollars in Indian startups since 2021 and recently set up a Rs 6,000 crore fund with Naver and Mirae Asset aimed at backing the next wave of Indian tech companies.
