Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Announced: New Maps, Weapons, DMZ Updates and More

Activision has officially revealed Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Call of Duty: Warzone, and there's plenty for players to look forward to. From new multiplayer maps and returning fan-favourite modes to fresh weapons and a dangerous new DMZ location, the first season is shaping up to be a substantial content update.

Season 1 goes live on November 6, 2026, at 10:30 AM IST, although players won't have to wait that long for new content. The Halloween-themed Possession and Infected modes arrive on October 29 and October 30, respectively, giving players something to jump into before the season officially begins.

New Multiplayer Maps and Modes

Multiplayer is getting more than six maps throughout Season 1. At launch, players can explore Backstab, a war-torn location with harsh weather conditions, Canyon, which features towering rock walls, and a reimagined version of the popular Shoot House map.

More maps, including Ministry and Overflow, will arrive during the mid-season update, alongside additional unannounced locations. Shipment is also joining the rotation ahead of Season 1.

As for game modes, the fan-favourite Grind returns at launch, accompanied by Drop Zone and Gauntlet 1v1 as part of the Wager Match Event. There's also Kill Block: Crash, which keeps the map layout static and puts Crash front and centre.

DMZ Gets a Dangerous New Location

DMZ players aren't being left out either. Season 1 introduces X01, a former Russian facility near Hajin's borders that has reportedly been occupied by North Korean forces.

The facility features cargo bays, vehicle depots, underground laboratories, and a sealed Deep Vault. Players will need to navigate shifting hazards, complete new Orders guided by Ghost, and deal with extraction points that gradually become unavailable. New equipment, Commander Hunts, and limited-time events are also planned.

New Weapons, Battle Pass and Warzone Content

Season 1 adds the Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle and CSG-35 SMG through the Battle Pass. The JAK 12 automatic shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee axe will follow later in the season.

The Battle Pass features 100 tiers, with free and premium rewards including Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, and Finishing Moves. BlackCell returns with Operator XERO, while Warzone players can look forward to two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac.
