Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Days Are Numbered! Activision Prepares to End Support a Year After its Launch
Activision is preparing to phase out Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, a little over a year after its worldwide release. The game, which debuted on March 21st, 2024, did not achieve the same success with mobile players as it did with PC and console users. Consequently, the company has decided to remove it from the App Store and Google Play by Sunday, May 18th.
Players who have already downloaded the game by Monday, May 19th will still be able to access it. They can continue using shared inventories and enjoy cross-progression with existing content. Online play will also remain available through matchmaking servers. However, Activision has stated that there will be no new seasonal content or gameplay updates.

Limited Features for Existing Players
Despite continued access for existing players, some features will be restricted. Social features across platforms will be unavailable, and purchasing content with real-world money will not be possible. Activision has confirmed that refunds for previously bought content or unspent COD Points will not be provided.
The game's initial launch was part of an effort to expand Activision's reach in mobile gaming. This move followed Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, which significantly bolstered its presence in the mobile gaming sector. Despite these efforts, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile did not meet expectations set by its performance on other platforms.
Impact on Mobile Gaming Strategy
This decision reflects a shift in strategy as Activision reassesses its approach to mobile gaming. The company had hoped for similar success across all platforms but found that mobile engagement lagged behind that of PC and console audiences. This outcome has prompted a re-evaluation of their mobile offerings.
The discontinuation of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile underscores the complexities involved in adapting popular games for different platforms. While cross-progression and shared inventories offered some continuity for players, they were not enough to sustain interest among mobile-first users.
