CES 2024: Nvidia Unveils GeForce RTX 40 Super Series Graphics Cards
Nvidia has officially introduced the Super variants of its popular RTX 40 series desktop GPUs. The announcement, made as part of CES 2024, reveals three new GPUs: the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super, signifying the return of the Super line since its inception in 2019.
The Power Within: CUDA Core Boost

One of the notable enhancements across the entire Super series is the increase in CUDA core count. The RTX 4080 Super sees a 5.3% boost, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super receives a substantial 10% increase. The RTX 4070, in comparison, undergoes a remarkable 22% rise. This translates to improved performance and efficiency across the board.
GPU Specifications:
| GPU Model | CUDA Cores | Boost Clock (GHz) | Memory Capacity | Price |
| RTX 4080 Super | 10,240 | 2.55 | 16GB GDDR6X | $999 |
| RTX 4070 Ti Super | 8,448 | 2.61 | 16GB GDDR6X | $799 |
| RTX 4070 Super | 7,168 | 2.48 | 12GB GDDR6X | $599 |
Performance Boost and Price Drop
Nvidia emphasizes the enhanced performance of the RTX 4080 Super, boasting double the power of its predecessor, the RTX 3080 Ti. Ideal for 4K gaming enthusiasts, this GPU aims to deliver a cutting-edge experience. The RTX 4070 Ti Super targets high-end 1440p gaming, providing 2.5 times the performance of the RTX 3070 Ti. The RTX 4070 Super, positioned as a mid-range 1440p solution, promises optimal value for its users.
Pricing and Availability
Nvidia has scheduled the release of these GPUs throughout January:
- RTX 4070 Super: January 17th, starting at $599
- RTX 4070 Ti Super: January 24th, priced at $799 (No Founder's Edition available)
- RTX 4080 Super: January 31st, with a starting price of $999
Nvidia has confirmed that the Super variants of its graphics cards will replace the non-Super variants. The only exception to this is the RTX 4090, which Nvidia claims is "substantially faster" than the new RTX 4080 Super GPU.
