NVIDIA Unveils GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs with DLSS 4; RTX 5070 Claimed to Offer 4090-Level Performance!

At CES 2025, NVIDIA finally pulled back the curtain on its highly anticipated GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. Built on the new Blackwell architecture, this next generation of graphics cards is packed with features, from DLSS 4 to RTX Neural Shaders, and it's clear NVIDIA is doubling down on both gaming performance and AI capabilities.

With models ranging from the flagship RTX 5090 to the more affordable RTX 5070, there's a lot to unpack here.

CES 2025 | NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Series GPUs Debut with Cutting-Edge DLSS 4

The Heavyweights: RTX 5090 and RTX 5080

Leading the pack is the RTX 5090, NVIDIA's most powerful consumer GPU to date. With 32GB of GDDR7 memory, 21,760 CUDA cores, and a staggering 575W TGP, this card is designed to handle the most demanding workloads.

NVIDIA claims it's twice as fast as the RTX 4090, which is saying a lot considering the 4090's reputation. For instance, in a Cyberpunk 2077 demo, the 5090 hit 238 fps with ray tracing and DLSS 4, compared to the 4090's 106 fps.

The RTX 5080, positioned as a slightly more accessible high-performance option, features 16GB of GDDR7 memory, 10,752 CUDA cores, and a 360W TGP. It's designed to be twice as fast as the RTX 4080, making it a solid choice for gamers and creators who don't want to go all-in on the flagship model.

Mid-Tier Options: RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070

For those looking for powerful GPUs without breaking the bank, NVIDIA introduced the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070. The 5070 Ti offers 16GB of GDDR7 memory, 8,960 CUDA cores, and a 300W TGP, while the 5070 scales down slightly with 12GB of GDDR7 memory, 6,144 CUDA cores, and a 250W TGP.

One bold claim from NVIDIA is that the RTX 5070 delivers RTX 4090-level performance for just $549. While this largely hinges on DLSS 4 improvements, it's a compelling prospect for gamers looking to maximize value.

DLSS 4: A Game Changer for Performance

One of the standout features of the RTX 50 Series is DLSS 4. NVIDIA's latest AI-driven rendering technology introduces Multi Frame Generation, which creates up to three additional frames for every traditionally rendered frame. This can boost frame rates by up to 8x, making even the most graphically demanding games run smoothly.

DLSS 4 also integrates transformer-based AI models, which enhance image quality, reduce ghosting, and improve detail in motion. NVIDIA says over 75 games will support DLSS 4 at launch, giving gamers plenty of opportunities to experience these advancements firsthand.

Laptops Get the Blackwell Treatment

The RTX 50 Series isn't limited to desktops. NVIDIA is also bringing its Blackwell architecture to laptops, starting with models featuring the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 Ti GPUs in March. These laptop GPUs promise significant performance gains while also delivering up to 40% better battery life thanks to the latest Max-Q technology.

With prices starting at $2,899, these laptops from brands like ASUS, Dell, and MSI are targeted at gamers and creators who need top-tier performance on the go.

New Tools for Gamers and Creators

NVIDIA is also rolling out several AI-powered features to enhance workflows and experiences. The RTX Neural Shaders enable more realistic lighting and textures in games, while RTX Neural Faces use generative AI to create lifelike digital characters. For creators, the GPUs now support FP4 precision, which doubles AI image generation speeds while reducing memory usage.

Streamers are getting new tools as well, with updates to the NVIDIA Broadcast app, including Studio Voice for better microphone audio and Virtual Key Light to improve on-camera lighting.

Pricing and Availability

The desktop RTX 5090 and 5080 will be available starting January 30th, priced at $1,999 (approximately ₹1,71,500) and $999 (approximately ₹85,600), respectively. The 5070 Ti and 5070 will follow in February at $749 (approximately ₹64,200) and $549 (approximately ₹47,000). Laptops featuring the RTX 50 Series GPUs will roll out in March, with prices starting at $2,899 (approximately ₹2,48,500) for models equipped with the RTX 5090.
